1. Title - Rarely Played 5 Star Songs
Query - playcount <= "4" AND rating = "5" This SPL contains songs I love (5 Star)..but just never really listened to very much (Low Playcount). I use this SPL when I want to hear something great I have not heard in a while or just forgotten about in my collection. Basically, it contains my long lost favorites. 2. Title - Attention Needed (Ratings). Query - (((rating < 1) OR (rating isempty))) AND (playcount >= 15) This SPL contains all songs that I've played alot (high Playcount) but, for some reason, have not rated yet. Basically, these songs NEED to be rated and it should not be difficult to do so. Hence the title of the SPL. 3. Title - Recently Added Query - filetime >= [1 week ago] This SPL contains all new songs I have added to my iPod in the last week. I use this playlist to listen to my new stuff easily. 4. Title - Pink Floyd (5 Star) Query - artist = "Pink Floyd" AND rating = "5" When you have over 3 gb's of Pink Floyd....this playlist is amazing. This gathers all my BEST pink floyd into one playlist.....5 Star Pink Floyd. I have other SPL's but they are pretty specific to my needs and not exactly useful to anyone else....or interesting for that matter. |
Music without ReplayGain
Not really a SPL, but a smart view in Winamp replaygain_track_gain ISEMPTY AND filename NOTHAS "Podcast" AND genre NOTHAS "Audiobook" AND filename NOTHAS "Hoerbuch" This is used to feed the selected tracks to the RG scanner Old podcasts genre = "Podcast" AND playcount > "0" AND lastplay < [1 week ago] AND album NOTHAS "Chaosradio" Selects podcasts that I might want to purge Audiobooks genre BEGINS "Hör" OR genre BEGINS "Speech" OR genre BEGINS "Audiobook" or filename has "Hoerbuch" |
I listen to this one all the time:
"lastplay < [3 weeks ago] AND rating > 3" It plays my favorite songs which I haven't heard in 3 weeks. |

@Yawg81
this limit only works on the ipod itself, not for the ml view. take me as example: 120gig of music... way to much for my nano >) i can't use the limit cause i would have to transfer the whole smartview and then limit it on the ipod => impossible ;) |
Thats interesting...I didn't know the iPod loads EVERYTHING in a Smart Playlist and the "limit" options only limit what is viewed and not what is imported onto the iPod. It does make sense that it would do this as the Smart Playlist in the actual on-computer library does not have truncating features and the iPod just transfers whats on the playlist. I just simply didn't think about this problem as ALL my music fits on my iPod (thats soon to change :cry: ). I can definately see how this is a problem though. Sad thing is I doubt it is fixable in ml_ipod. This sounds more like a lack of features in the Smart Views for Winamp itself. ml_ipod just tries to make up for it with its ipod-internal limiting features.

Multiples Artist rated 5
Quote:
I'm a big Mike Patton fan, and I'm trying to make a smart Playlist of the high rated song of all his band (faith no more, lovage, mr. bungle). I've tryed this: rating = "5" AND artist = Lovage, Faith No More, Fantômas as you said before, but Its doesn't work. Please, can you help me to make this SPL? Thank you! |

you need to keep two things in mind when creating this SPL: * it is not a live one, because composer isn't a field that can be used in live playlists.. but that really doesn't matter with this kind of playlist * you'll have to add the composer tag info to all your tracks by Mike Patton... the composer tag is a nice tag to use for combining alter-ego's.. That should do the trick for you. |

my one and only smartlist:
(!replaygain_track_gain =="") & (!lastplay > [30 days ago]&rating==2)|(!lastplay > [14 days ago]&rating==3)|(!lastplay > [7 days ago]&rating==4)|(!lastplay > [3 days ago]&rating==5) autofilling my ipod with rating ratios: 1:1:1:1:0:1 |
great topic! :-)
I love this smart playlist! Thanx! |
I have a couple standard smart playlists, but I'm mostly into custom ones.
I have ones named like... "2007/01 Jan - May" which would be a list of songs I listened to between January and May of 2007. I just drag songs in that are popular between then.. a great way to transport me back to different times. :D Some smarts: rating > "3" AND (artist = "Skid Row" OR artist = "Sebastian Bach") rating > "3" AND artist = "Pantera" playcount >= 30 genre = "Rap" OR genre = "Hip-Hop" AND rating > "3" |
I have the classic "favourites" (rating>4) or "never played" smart playlists...
I also have 5-6 smart playlists by "group of genre"+not played recently, like : (genre="jazz" OR genre="world") AND lasplay>1 month ago or : (genre="pop" OR genre="rock") AND lasplay>15 days ago Then I only have to choose what kind of music I want to listen to, and I play "shuffle by album" on those playlists, so it allows me to listen to all my music regularly. |
I have quite an exhaustive list of Smart playlists.....these are just some non-personal ones.
! rating >= 1 AND genre = "Classics" NOTE: set a song limit of 5 songs as a daily goal to listen to one 5-song set and rate them. -This playlist allows me to see all my Unrated Classic Rock (genre labeled 'Classics') music. In short, it enables me to continue my goal of rating all my music in an efficient, step-based manor. playcount >= 15 AND ! rating >= 1 -This playlist is also part of my Rating project. Songs listed I obviously know and SHOULD by all means have a rating for. Rating these songs is a no-brainer. Above are useful playlists if you, like me, are extensively rating every song in your library and need help about where to start. playcount <= "4" AND rating = "5" -This playlist is named "Rarely Played (5 Star)". I listen to my iPod ALOT ALOT and 4 playcounts is low for my library. These are the songs I love but unfrequently listen to. playcount > "100" -This playlist is named "Top Played". I sleep while music is playing on my iPod through speakers on a routine basis. Mellow, Sleepy songs are played that I pick. Because of this, I have a large number of songs that have playcounts of 100+ and even up to 400+ (no joke). This smart playlist's job is to report what songs I most commonly sleep to as an attempt to some day create a master sleep playlist. |
great topic! would be sticked ;)

i'm trying to make a playlist of "TOP ARTISTS OF THE WEEK" that does this:
compares the sum amount of plays per ARTIST to the sum amount of plays of other artists, within the previous week. the top artists with the most plays gets ALL theirs songs (even the ones that barely got played), into the playlist. sounds like a tough one, i'm having a hard time making it, but hopefully you can help me out!! thanks |
I haven't looked into it much....but Winamp's Smart Playlist abilities are pretty limited. I highly doubt this is currently possible. Sorry

Is it possible to create a smart playlist that will show in iPod, the ALBUMS recently added?
|

But your iPod would display Recently Added as a list of individual tracks right? Like Track 01, Track 02, etc.
I'm looking for a way to display Album 1, Album2, etc |
You can try selecting "recently added", right click, select "edit view" and on the bottom select "simple album" instead of "simple". It lists by album in Winamp, but I have not had a chance to try it on the iPod.
|
Digging this thread up from the dead but can anyone explain the above post please?
I too have been trying to sort a recently added playlist into "album" so when I look at recently added on the ipod it shows as an album rather than a massive list of songs. The last post says to edit the playlist but thats a playlist in winamp as if looking at the playlists under devices then ipod then right clicking one there is no "edit view" option. Any ideas? :) |

With the new Winamp writing ratings in to the actual ID3 tags, I'm now experiencing an issue where my iPod's "Recently Added" playlist is constantly showing things I've recently modified. So, they aren't all new. I can get the same SPL on my PC to show exactly the range necessary to only display my new music, but it's not working the same way on my synced iPod. Argh. Query on my pc: lastupd >= [13 days ago] AND filetime >= [13 days ago] AND playcount <= "2" Right now I have 12 recently added albums showing up. This same query in iPod gives me like 300. I only made 1 discovery on the path to fixing this query and that's changing "Last Updated" to "Played Last" cuts the list down to 107. I noticed "Date Added" is a column I can view, but there's no appropriate query parameter for that (that I can see). If anyone can help me, I would most appreciate it. |
