Help Me Identify This Song
 

So I've been listening to this new Nine Inch Nails album over and over tonight but keep going back to one song in particular because it is annoying me to all hell. There's a small clip in this song that I just can't identify. I've heard it before in another song probably three or four years ago. I'm pretty sure it was a quite popular, probably shown on MTV for a while.

Sample1 is the clip I'm trying to identify, the short notes in particular. I've included Sample2 to give some context that might help to recognize the song.

Cancel that, I've figured it out. But since I'm ashamed to have remembered or to have ever even heard the song before, and even more ashamed that I made the connection, I won't reveal the song. I will say that indeed the song was quite popular on MTV but it is actually six years old.

Anyway now that I listen to the clip again it doesn't even really sound like it. I thought it did, that's embarrassing enough.

Yeah I know what you mean. I know this begining of a song sounds just like the log in sound on default xp sounds. Kinda weird.
