Portable Media - "Error in Insert: 45001"

after downloading Winamp v5.34 a couple days ago, my Portable Media manager in Winamp has been malfunctioning. it is unable to upload my songs to my Sansa e270 8GB media player.

everytime i right click a song, "Send to: -> Sansa e270" the following error message appears under "Status" once the upload process counter hits 100%

"Error in Insert: 45001"

screenshot:
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...error45001.jpg

it happens to every one of my songs, and yes i have tried unplugging/plugging my player, and i have restarted Winamp. nothing seems to work. i am running Windows XP by the way. older versions of Winamp did not have this problem.

Can anyone provide some help?
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: i just downgraded my Winamp to v5.33 and it works fine now... so it must be a problem with the new Winamp v5.34 =\

PolarizedGlory 14th May 2007 05:07

I have just started experiencing this error as well. It only happens to me for some files, all .mp3 so far. I have transfered .wma files to the device (a Sansa m240) with no error messages.

However, even the successfully transferred files are missing all of their tag information besides title.

As a test, I transcoded one of the failing mp3's to wma and tried to transfer it. That resulted in a crash of Winamp, caused by pmp_p4s.dll (the Windows Media Portable plugin).

I am at a loss. There seems to be a bug in at least the windows media transfer plugin for the new release.

Sticky: Winamp 5.34 crashes on sync/transfer for PlaysForSure (P4S) devices

PolarizedGlory 14th May 2007 13:40

Thanks for the quick response! That workaround works perfectly.

DJ Egg 14th May 2007 13:46

Cool. Note that it's fixed for 5.35, which is coming very very soon :-)

drunknm6nky 15th May 2007 00:21

i'm definitely looking forward to the 5.35 version then haha i'm still using 5.33 just so i can load songs onto my Sansa e270

Sliv 16th May 2007 01:09

Version 5.35

I have updated to version 5.35 and now I get the error "Error in insert: 45001" just like everyone else above said that ver 5.34 did... Version 5.34 would crash winamp and also my I-River H10 cause me to have to reinstall the firmware in my H10... I rolled back to 5.33 when that happend and looks like 5.35 still got a bug with the H10... But still wouldn't use anything other then Winamp thanks for a great thing :) ...

Edit: One other thing I noticed with 5.35 when it goes to start to transfer there is problly a good 3-8 sec that it stalls out then starts transfer gets up to what looks like 100% finished but when you go and look if it was done or not it has the error

truckster08 16th May 2007 02:35

Did the same as above. Upgraded to 5.35 (removed previous version 5.34 - which was crashing WinAmp when trying to do a transfer) and did a clean install with 5.35 but still rec'd the same: "error in insert:45001" for my Sansa E260 so thinking the new version might not have fixed the problem?? I dunno.

Rolled back to 5.33 version and am able to again do the transfers like before.

Any other advice on the upgrade version(s)?

TwistedEmotions 17th May 2007 01:10

I am getting the same error when I try and transfer music to my Creative Zen Microphoto except the error number is 80070002.
I rolled back to 5.33 but to no avail.

Is this the same thing? Or is it a problem with my recently updated firmware?

will 17th May 2007 17:16

80070002 is FILE_NOT_FOUND
Most likely due to you trying to transfer files which do not exist.

45001 is INTERFACE_DEAD. No idea what is causing that.

will 17th May 2007 17:24

question for people who get the 45001 error: is the folder that the song should be copied to created successfully?

SpencerDub 17th May 2007 23:22

Similarly, I just updated to 5.35 today. Since I upgraded to 5.34, my music won't transfer to my Zen Micro. It gives me an error 8002000a. I had hoped that 5.35 would fix it, but it didn't.

DJ Egg 17th May 2007 23:34

8002000a is an "out of range" error, possibly related to bad/illegal characters in the ID3 tags - prime example thread here.

Sliv 17th May 2007 23:49

To answer if the folder is created when you get that error 45001... Yes the folder is created and the file is moved to the protable device and the portable device has file and plays on it. Just seems winamp isn't dececting that the file has been moved across and seems a little laggy while transfering files compared to 5.33...

Anacron 18th May 2007 11:17

I only started getting the "Error in insert: 45001" after upgrading to v5.35. I was transferring files using v5.33 with no problems, suddenly noticed Winamp offered me a new version (5.35, I didn't upgrade to 5.34 because of the sync bug), and upgraded. Soon as I tried to transfer files with v5.35, I got the error message.

All the files are present and correct, the only thing to have changed between it working and not working is the version of Winamp.

The files aren't created on my portable device when I get this error, and it seems that the folder isn't created either (not sure about this).

will 18th May 2007 12:11

Fix here: http://stashbox.org/21071/pmp_p4s.dll

(with Winamp closed, save pmp_p4s.dll to the Winamp\Plugins folder)

The problem was this:
The code 45001 means "transfer completed ok, but I don't support all these metadata items so I ignored the ones i don't support"

Winamp mistook this success code for an error code and aborted the transfer process.

The fix I made was just to make winamp correctly see this code as a success code.

Please use this newer version of pmp_p4s.dll instead

(for 5.35 ONLY, not newer versions of Winamp)

DJ Egg 18th May 2007 20:09

Installer also now available (for those who don't like playing with DLL's):
http://stashbox.org/21104/Winamp535_Update_Pack.exe

Please confirm here whether the new pmp_p4s.dll fixes your problem.

(note, the installer contains nothing but the new pmp_p4s.dll, so if you're coming to this thread from an external link, but don't need/use pmp_p4s.dll, then you don't really need to install the update pack either)

Please use this newer version of pmp_p4s.dll instead

(for 5.35 ONLY, not newer versions of Winamp)

Sliv 19th May 2007 03:40

Now this is why I use winamp you guys rock... Fixed and updated... Thanks

drunknm6nky 19th May 2007 06:11

yeah agreed. thanks winamp staff, i downloaded the Installer and it fixed the portable media problem with winamp 5.35

DJ Egg 19th May 2007 09:28

Yay! :)

Anacron 19th May 2007 09:29

I replaced the .dll with will's file, which fixed the problem. Thanks a lot. :)

truckster08 19th May 2007 16:59

Hi. I applied the Update Pack patch DLL file for version 5.35. Thanks for that. No longer getting the "Error in Insert 45001" on my Sansa E260 as the portables transfer message says it is completed but upon checking the E260 (after ejecting the device), the files/track info did not actually transfer over to it. Did notice a bunch of files that did transfer over as blank-no data (no artist, or track or title info) and time length all showing as 0:00. Guessing that was maybe what was transferred but am unable to play or listen to those files.

Still baffled.....

Was using version 5.33 with the same Sansa E260 and had no previous issues at all with transferring tracks. Will rollback to that version I guess at this point pending further advice....

drunknm6nky 20th May 2007 18:08

wow, thanks for noticing

yeah i didn't really notice that until now either, when i actually started up my mp3 player on its own...

i downloaded the .dll patch for 5.35 but my Sansa e270 is also showing that same bug. it looks like it uploads fine from Winamp, but once you actually use your mp3 player and try to play the song you uploaded, it's not there.

i also have a bunch of blank name/title/time files that show up on my Sansa as well, when i plug it back into Winamp.

will also downgrade back to 5.33 for now heh

Banditbond 21st May 2007 16:19

Same for me and my Sansa e260.
Worked with Winamp 5.33 and the same mp3 file.

It transfers the files, but all id3-tags are lost.
The Sansa only allows browsing files by id3-tags.

Banditbond 23rd May 2007 15:05

Any idea about it ?

will 23rd May 2007 15:53

try this patch and let me know if it works: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....83#post2189083

(for 5.35 ONLY, not newer versions of Winamp)

DJ Egg 23rd May 2007 15:59

[Edit -> Aah, Will also posted the fix above. Note, this is the same fix]

Update

http://stashbox.org/21554/pmp_p4s.dll

(for 5.35 ONLY, not newer versions of Winamp)

Installer to follow

Make sure you save the file as pmp_p4s.dll (not 21554_pmp_p4s.dll)
so that it overwrites the older pmp_p4s.dll in the Winamp\Plugins folder

This should also fix the "Error in Insert: 8000200a" error
(in addition to the previously provided fix for "Error in Insert: 45001")

Basically, the 8000200a error was being caused by files with no rating (value = -1), and just one of these would cause the whole transfer to fail.

Note, this might also fix the problem reported above by truckster08, drunknm6nky & Banditbond....

Please post to confirm the 8000200a fix,
and/or whether it fixes any other issues or not.

[EDIT]

Installer now available
http://stashbox.org/21655/Winamp535_Update_Pack.exe

(for 5.35 ONLY, not newer versions of Winamp)

DJ Egg 23rd May 2007 22:53

Hello? Anyone?

listeruk 23rd May 2007 23:36

Yes, that fixes the 8000200a error for me!
Thanks.

DJ Egg 23rd May 2007 23:59

Yay! :)

tfft

truckster08 24th May 2007 01:49

Awesome.....worked like a charm.

By george I think you got it! Yay! Worked awesome with the last DLL. No "Error in Insert: 45001" message on my Sansa E260 and checked the actual player and files transferred normally and everything looks great with version 5.35 now.

You guys are awesome. Support spectacular!

Winamp forever!

drunknm6nky 24th May 2007 03:55

wow... GREATLY appreciated dj egg, good work! your new plugin patch fixed the 45001 error problem and it actually loads the songs onto my sansa e270 using winamp 5.35

agreed with truckster. spectacular support team!

Banditbond 24th May 2007 17:20

It works !

Great Job !

mgrayum 25th May 2007 04:56

i was having the same problem with my iriver h10 and winamp 5.35. installed the most recentr update packet and everything is working smoothly. thanks!

rcrath 8th June 2007 05:19

I had the crash problem when syncing to an Iriver clix 2 gig player so downgraded to 5.32 from winampheaven.com, which works fine. Tried 5.35 both without and with the updated pmp_p4s. W/o it would not recognize the player. WIth it, it saw the player, saw the songs, but when I tried to autofill, it wanted to only delete files without adding any. ...back to 5.32...

specs:
processor speed: Pentium IV 2.8 GHZ
XP: Service Pack 2 with all updates on a regular basis
sound card: maudio delta 66
ram: 2 gigs DDR

rcrath 8th June 2007 05:28

doh...and winampheaven.net is down so I am stuck with 5.35 which doesn't work...anyone know a place to download a copy of 5.32?

DJ Egg 8th June 2007 09:16

The 5.35a Update Pack fixes the pmp_p4s "Error In Insert 45001 & 8002000a" error messages.

If you are experiencing some other problem then it's not related to anything in this particular thread, and you should probably start a new thread.

It's certainly nothing that we're aware of and something that we cannot reproduce.

All the 5.3x versions are still up on the Nullsoft servers, eg.
5.32 Full | 5.32 Pro

or at filehippo

but older versions are not supported.

You could try using 7Zip to extract ml_pmp.dll and pmp_p4s.dll (plus any other pmp_*.dll files that you might be using) from the Plugins dir inside the 5.32 installer, and then using them with 5.35

rcrath 12th June 2007 05:26

Thanks for responding. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling w/ the new dll and that seemed to work so far, but I downloaded 5.32 again just in case.

I'm wondering if XP Home is part of the problem. Please read this: XP Home VS Pro Error In Insert 8002000a

-edit apparently you can't link/url things in posts so here is my original message:

Quote:

I'd just like to add my experience with this patch/problem. I own a Dell DJ 30G, 2 actually. When I use Winamp 5.35 on my WinXP Pro installation/PC, Winamp recognizes the player as "Cote" or "Linda" depending on which device I am using. WMP does the same. Winamp 5.35 works unpatched on this PC with both devices.

On my other PC I run WinXP Home! When I use Winamp it lists the devices as "Dell DJ" and NOT "Linda" or "Cote". WMP however DOES recognize the device by it's correct name. Interesting... Also, I get the "Error in Insert: 8002000a" message when I try to transfer music to the players. When the patch is applied, it works flawless.

When I read your description of the problem, I figured it might be useful to add that it maybe partly an XP issue and not just a player specific issue. Also, why is Winamp not recognizing the devices by it's name in Win XP Home?

anjjj 14th July 2007 13:17

Okay, I'm using a Creative Zen Touch. Under 5.35 on XP pro I can't get it to transfer no matter what I do, always 8000200a for any mp3 I try to transfer.

I tried using the update pack, rating, unzipping old dlls from 5.32 install etc. (just causes winamp to crash).

When I uninstall 5.35 and install 5.32 it works perfectly again...
