Hi,
I've got a problem with Winamp 5.35. I'm adding the mp3 files to the Playlist, then I'm sorting them and finaly I'm clicking a command 'Remove duplicated files'. It should remove only a duplicated files but it removing me much more! Almost half of my playlist is disappering in unknown way :( Not only a duplicated files. For example: I've got a 1393 files on the play list. When I'll add folder with missing files then is a 2142 files. After the commad 'Remove duplicated files' left me 'only' 836 files! It should be a 1536! Hard case... Why that happening? [Edit --> DJ Egg] Crosspost alert! Please stick to one thread per topic. |
Found something weird going on with some FLAC files I have: Winamp will not play a FLAC file that is mono, 32000hz, and 24bit. When play is pressed, there is only silence. Has this been reported?

Hi,
I use Winamp 5.35 Lite. Essentials 5.35s find file on disk wont work. Nothing happens. Known bug? I have tried to reinstall it a couple of times. Edit: Also having problem with Winamp krasching at start when having AMIP installed. |
DIFference
For its work you need to install Jump To File Extra or Winamp Full (because it also contain it) |

I can't promise anything, but we'll need a sample file (zip it up, upload to sendspace.com or mediafire.com, and post the download link here). @DIFference Yeah, that's weird. FFOD works fine for everyone else, so alas, I'm not sure what's going on there. Have you tried removing all other 3rd-party plugins, including amip? |

Check that you have both gen_find_on_disk.dll and gen_jumpex.dll in Plugins directory. |

when having amip installed. winamp crashes for a few times before starting okej. lol |
I don't know, if i should report this as a bug, but it looks like, FLAC support is broken under 98SE. Didn't tested yet with XP. By playing a FLAC file, winamp just skips it and also don't display any infotags - the fields are plain empty, although the playlist shows the correct title. After installing FLAC input plug-in v1.1.2a, displaying tags and playback works well, so i guess, there's something wrong with the Nullsoft FLAC support... :weird:
|
Tested with XP, runs all fine... Obviously a 98SE issue. Can anyone confirm this?
|
Here is the link:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/bvt6gi I know its a odd combination, but I've been sent some unique files in that format and I don't want to re-encode the files (due to quality). Thanks for looking into it. |
I'm sorry to say but the last 2-3 versions (including current one) of Winamp have not really worked for me as it should.
I have experienced alot of crashes. Just stopping a song and winamp stops responding and eventually crashes. It happens from time to time, sometimes I don't even have to try and do anything except move the window when it goes down. It's not a specific function that causes the problems, it can be caused by nothing or anything. I can't seem to find a pattern in it more then that it have started after the last 2-3 versions something. More strange behavior that has come with this is that sometimes when I try and get the Winamp window to the front by clicking on it in the toolbar, the playlist and media library comes to front but not the player itself. And the global hotkeys only work from time to time. Sometimes I have to activate the player window for them to work, sometimes they don't work at all.   |
@blm07
Thanks for the sample file. Problem reproduced, and hopefully we can get it resolved for the next release. @ChrissyX As already stated, alas, we won't be supporting Win9x at all soon, so if anything doesn't work on Win9x any more then it's very unlikely that it will ever get fixed. Is in_flac.dll definitely in the Winamp\Plugins folder? Does the Nullsoft FLAC Decoder plugin (in_flac.dll) show up in Prefs > Plugins > Input? If not then chances are that there'll be a missing dependency somewhere. See if Dependency Walker reveals anything (load in_flac.dll into it). @Bejron We can't reproduce the problem. Post in Tech Support instead, and be sure to read the Info Required sticky first. In most cases like yours, it usually turns out to be an old/incompatible 3rd-party plugin to blame. |

-Shows up in Input as "Nullsoft FLAC Decoder 2.01" -Just in case, i've attached a screenshot of that Walker tool loaded the dll. btw: Winamp crashes, when i select the dll in the Input list and click on "About"... And please don't drop 9x support so soon! :( |
And libflac.dll is in the Winamp root folder?
|

A brave decision chaps, but one that will ultimately benefit Winamp. Keep up the good work, James x |

It's fixed for the next release so you'll be able to play 24bit flac files even with that option disabled (will auto downsample to 16bit). |

I've attached a screenshot, how a flac file appears in the tag-editor. |
Ah thanks, yeah that makes sense and it worked. I'll probably just leave it on, I think my sound can handle it anyway.

ActiveSync pops up
I upgraded recently from some old 5.1x version to 5.35
I don't know what happened in the meantime, but now, each time I start up Winamp, I get this Windows ActiveSync setup thing, asking me to "Get Connected". I don't want to get connected, I just want to listen to music without having to cancel that crap every time >< I even removed pmp_activesync.dll, but to no avail. Still pops up. Please help. |
If you definitely removed pmp_activesync.DLL then the popup is no longer anything to do with Winamp. At a guess, the plugin must still be installed...
|
allright, the plugins !!
well, i removed all the other ones (plays for sure, some usb thing, and another one - i have ipod so i left ipod just in case, even though i still use iTunes because winamp and iTunes import files in a different way) anyway, no activesync popups anymore. weird. :D thx for the hint, Egg-dude. Groove on ! |
I'm still having issues with the transcoder locking m4a files after transcoding to mp3. the files stay locked until Winamp is exited, and if they are manually unlocked without doing so (a la Unlocker), then Winamp will eventually crash and take Explorer.exe along with it. [XP SP2]

hi Devs...
This has been an awesome build. So awesome in fact that I have only found one "problem" so far, When you are ripping an album that is a compilation now the filename is tagged with <artist> - <title>, however, the playlist that is created is below. #EXTINF:194,Various Artists - China Grove 12 - The Doobie Brothers - China Grove.mp3 So when you load up the playlist, you see various artist until the file is played. Not a big deal, but I thought it would be interesting for continuity. Thank You. |
So change it to <Albumartist> - <Title> then
(as far as I know, <AlbumAartist> is supported, though I'm not 100% sure) |
I am sorry, maybe I misunderstood what you were saying or I didn't explain myself correctly.
The names of the individual files are correct and that is how I would like them to appear, ex. 12 - The Doobie Brothers - China Grove.mp3 and the name of the actual playlist is great also ex. Various Artists - Loyal Loopers- Rock! Volume 1.m3u I am talking about when the playlist is loaded into the playlist editor. the entry is loaded as Various Artists - China Grove until the entry is actually played. As far as I can see, there is no way to change that. |
You mean the auto generated playlist thing (Prefs > CD Ripping > Playlist Generation)?
Hmm, I never even use that feature (have had it unchecked since day one). I guess those must be hard-coded to write <Artist> - <Title> for #ExtInf and don't follow ATF syntax. So yeah, there's not much you can do about that, heh... other than to do what I do and load them from the ML instead (eg. via the Recently Added view). |
EXACTLY!! Thank you.
Unfortunately, your trick would not work for me, but I was happy that I could bring the issue to your attention. Maybe it will be changed... maybe not. Its not a major issue. second, I am surprised that you are not creating playlists automatically. It has been a godsend for keeping everything organized. Each album gets its own folder and playlist. This way things don't get jumbled. |
Anything new regarding the 98SE FLAC issue?
btw Please note, that this FLAC plugin almost works perfectly. At least, you can play and edit FLAC files, but not both at the same time. :D |
In my opinion Winamp works fine, maybe because i use Windows ME.

Re: Winamp 5.35 Released

On my other PC I run WinXP Home! When I use Winamp it lists the devices as "Dell DJ" and NOT "Linda" or "Cote". WMP however DOES recognize the device by it's correct name. Interesting... Also, I get the "Error in Insert: 8002000a" message when I try to transfer music to the players. When the patch is applied, it works flawless. When I read your description of the problem, I figured it might be useful to add that it maybe partly an XP issue and not just a player specific issue. Also, why is Winamp not recognizing the devices by it's name in Win XP Home? |

I can't install Winamp
I had a problem with winamp, i was constanly having problems with winamp which crashed everytime i was using shoutcast so i decided to uninstall it, i downloaded the verison from URL submitted by user. but when i try to install it alot of errors apear... and this happended on the office pc to... that means that i can use winamp any more... All the DLL files have the same problem PS: i'm using a licenced XP SP2 crosspost |
As this is somewhat related to Winamp installation,
I'd like the devs to take a peak at this: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=274465 Shoutcast Source DSP 1.9.0 installer has a very old version of enc_aacplus.dll So that nice up-to-date encoder that the 5.35 (and onwards) has will be replaced by a old one from way back in 2005. More details and how to reproduce the issue is in that thread! Ok! What's up with trying to post urls here? Even local urls of the forum doesn't show? The url is showthread.php?threadid=274465 |
Rescator, thats a good point. I'll take that into account when/if i ever deploy a newer version of the anti-spam feature. thanks!
|
mmm winamp?
great features in development? :D |
Yup, there sure is :-)
|
some indications? :p
