About .msi
Hello,
I did search the forums using the keyword ".msi" because that's what I need to know about and could not find what I need to know. I recently discovered Statistics 4 beta by Rysin Online. I was going to download it and install Statistics 4 beta but noticed it had a .msi extension which I'm completley unfamiliar with. I emailed the developer of Statistics 4 beta, Ryan Fisher, and he told me to come here, to this specific section of the winamp forums because the people here would be able to help. He said that .msi stands for Microsoft Install (I'm guessing a program?). Ryan said that most people have Microsoft Install without having to install (his words), though I would not know where on my computer to look for it. This computer was upgraded to XP from Windows 98 (that's how old it is), so since I have no clue about .msi files, I'm hesitant to download the Statistics 4 beta program. Can anybody help me? Microsoft installer comes with XP so the extension isn't dangerous.
ANY program you install can be dangerous, but I happen to know that Rysin Online is completely safe as I use statistics myself. If your pc doesn't know what to do with it, try saving it onto your desktop or something and open it from that location, that's what worked for me when it wouldn't open directly from the download. Hope this helps. |
