Pause + Unpause = Volume goes to full

Allright well ive had this problem for about 2 weeks and the problem is:

When I hit the pause button, and then unpause or click play again, the volume bar does not move, but its "volume that i hear" increases to where it would be if the bar was at 100%.

Now if i just click it down a bit it will go back to normal, but Id like to know why this is happening. It only happens on direct sound, not on waveout.

After some further diagonosing, it seems that when i mute the wav input on my sound card, no sound comes out, until i hit pause and then unpause, then it goes what sounds like 100% but the sound bar is still on like 30%. If i move the sound bar to adjust the sound then once again no sound comes out. Its almost like it uses the wave input when i adjust the sound and the directsound when i hit pause and unpause. Hmm

EDIT: FIXED - SORT OF.

Allright well I was playing around with some stuff, and I found that if i enable the fade on the pause/stop under "fading" in the output plugin secttion for direct sound and set the fade to 1ms, it pauses/plays fine with no volume increase. Still hasnt solved the underlying problem though. Just a fix for anyone else out there with that problem!

Hi

Information Required...

What is your soundcard, Windows OS, Winamp version?

A 'List of Plugins' & a dxdiag log would reveal this.

Have you maybe enabled the 'Allow 24bit' option in Prefs > Playback?
What other items are checkmarked in there?

What file formats are you playing? Just mp3, or are other formats affected too (ogg, flac, wma, wav, m4a, etc)?
