winamp accessing mp3 players
Winamp plays fine until I have my mp3 player (philips model) plugged into the system. Winamp will load, then about 15 seconds later crashes. It also eats all the cpu usage. This did not start happening until I upgraded to 5.35. Now, my question is: how does one stop winamp from accessing an MP3 player?

Hi.
What's the exact Philips model? (so I can look it up and work out what pmp plugin interface it's using) You can either disable Portable Media Player Support totally by either uninstalling it via: Winamp > Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Plugins > Media Library: Portable Media Player Support > Uninstall or with Winamp closed, remove ml_pmp.dll from the Winamp\Plugins folder Or you can just disable the respective Portable Media Player plugin via: Winamp > Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Plugins > Portables > (plugin) > uninstall or with Winamp closed, remove the respective pmp_*.dll file from the Winamp\Plugins folder. At a guess, your player will be using either pmp_usb.dll or pmp_p4s.dll If it's using pmp_usb.dll (generic USB drive support), then Winamp should've prompted you when it first detected the portable player and asked if you wanted Winamp to manage it or not... Next time, when upgrading to the latest version of Winamp, remember to uncheck Portable Media Player Support under the Winamp Library section on Screen 2 of the Installer Options |
I have several Philips players, they all did the same thing. Your fixed worked.
