winamp karaoke-vocal reverb in mix
 

I use winamp for mp3, cdg, avi music. I am keen to use winamp for PC karaoke and have a few of your great winamp plugins.
I can activate the plugin effects for the mp3 music but when I hook up a microphone to the computer and sing through it I cannot get say any reverb or other effect for the vocals.
Is it possible to put reverb through the vocal mix using these plugins or do I need to connect an external fx mixer/reverb fx box and play the microphone, vocals through this first, then through my soundcard? (x-fi elite pro)
I am new to audio and am a bit stumped as to how best to set up winamp for karaoke to get effect control and activation for both the mp3 music and the live vocals?
Any ideas please?
