Winamp 5.35 "barfs" when trying to retrieve album info
I use Winamp (current version) to play CD's. If it's a commercial CD, I usually have it hit CDDB & retrieve album info.
However, since the most recent upgrade/update, whenever it plays an old CD, it works okay, but if it's one that's not in the local database, it gives me a blowup "Winamp... has had a problem and needs to close". I've re-installed, but that hasn't fixed the problem. Anyone else experiencing this problem, or know how to fix it? SC |

No fix yet, but you're not the only one with the problem. (That was the URL of a post on the first page of the tech support forum, but apparently, I'm not allowed to post URLS. Oops.) |

I haven't found anything that doesn't trigger it, unless it's an old CD that was already in the database.
There's been a couple of them that I had to rip using an mp3 ripper just to listen to them. The one thing though, that triggers it appears to be when it attempts to read the database at CDDB. Not sure if they've changed a timeout or some other value on their end, or if it's something else. It acts like it's a "No record found" type of unhandled condition or something. Does the registered version do the same thing? SC |
