Great news:up: This must be named 5.4. But i must say something. My album covers are all in tags. Are there any support for this?

Very good news ;) This must be named Winamp 6!! :p

I went into Windows Firewall and added an exception for Winamp and tried again, with the same result. Is there a specific port that needs to be open at the hardware level?

/edit - And I've tried it with many songs, including different artists, genres, completely different decades, nothing has returned any results.

a shot in the dark: old Gracenote plugins require (for the first utilization, at least) General Preferences -> Select your Internet connection is different from Not connected to Internet value (other online services don't); so try to switch to another value if this is your case

Hope Winamp will save the album art in the playing directory if its finished fetching it from the online db...

I think this should be called Winamp 5.4.... so cool.

EDIT
The Color Editor & Wasabi Console dont work in this beta.... :(

ML Import-Export is back!

as anticipated dy DrO in this post http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....70#post2198970 the popular ML Import-Export plugin works again also with classic skins ;)

DrO 23rd August 2007 20:46

If you right-click the album art icons in the Album Art view, there's already an option to "Get Album Art".

It currently actually DOES access the coverart.music.aol.com/amg database and saves as cover.jpg in the containing dir, but only if the album is in the database.

Hopefully, we'll eventually be able to access some other more complete database (no confirmation or guarantee of this yet) and get it to save as %album%.jpg instead....?

I've added an Updates section at the bottom of the first post.

Includes link to updated Color Editor and Essentials Pack, Wasabi Console to follow...

No. Just some truncated text on some of the buttons for me
http://stashbox.org/34327/coloreditor.png

Note, the update doesn't include the .maki and .png files from the full Color Editor package, it only includes the updated .wac and .xml (ie. you need to already have the Color Editor installed first, then install the update after).

Even with the current beta (build 1500)?
Am I perhaps missing something?

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/6...lbumartyi5.png

Are there any additional dependencies for such functionality? I have replaced all of the .dll files that appear to be related to Gracenote, yet still do not see any option to 'Get Album Art' when right clicking the empty thumbnails.

Cheers,
James

where I have to unzip the coloreditor files?

Edit: Nevermind I found it how to make it work, thanks anyways :)

Hello again,

A couple of additional things I have noticed:

- The installer does not install jpeg.w5s (or other image format loaders) when modern skin support is unticked. This file is needed for folder.jpg Album Art.

- The 'Display Show Info' option in ml_local appears to cause terrible instability when using classic skins.

- Connecting my 1st gen. iPod Nano (4gb) crashes WinAMP. I have so far been unable to test the improvements to pmp_ipod.

Cheers,
James

@jmbattle

Hmm... as far as I know, the 'Get Album Art' feature should be in build 1500, though I am using a slightly newer internal build, so I'm not entirely sure, heh.

But yeah, if that is the case, and jpeg.w5s, bmp.w5s, gif.w5s and png.w5s are missing from the Winamp\System dir, then that might explain things.

Thanks for letting us know....

EDIT: Ok, my bad. I've just been told that it's not in 1500.
Sorry, you'll have to wait for the next public beta.

btw, I can't reproduce any problem with 'Show Info' under classic skins.
Anyone else?

jmbattle 24th August 2007 03:14

Okay, thank you for confirming this.

Regarding the 'Show Info' issue, I never have this option displayed so it is not such a big problem for me. Perhaps it only occurs when modern skin support is not installed?

Cheers,
James

I get a crash just from selecting Visualization in the WA preferences.

[edit]any info on difference between plg and predixis... is it the same concept from a different group?

great build! Congratulations!
Thanks for implementing coverart

I've connected mine (2Gb), and it works perfectly (iTunes not installed), Winamp asked me which version I have, after selecting, everything worked fine except when I'm transfering an album, the cover art does not transfer into the iPod. I'm seeing a blank cover on the iPod, and only for the albums that as a cover in Winamp (that I've transfered after putting a cover art in Winamp) when I'm playing the album.

- When I put a %album%.jpg in the album folder, it won't change if Winamp as already selected one automatically.

- Can't use the Play button on my keyboard (Microsoft keyboard with Fingerprint reader) when Winamp is down in the task bar. Stop, Prev and Next works. Latest Intellitype installed. Global Hotkeys Enabled.

- Rating an album gives it 5 stars everytime. Even if I choose 1 - 2 - 3 or 4 stars.

That's it

Tommy

jmbattle 24th August 2007 06:02

Hmm... could it perhaps be a result of using a Japanese version of Windows?

Something similar here:
I decided to change a cover (by overwriting the old cover.jpg by a new one), and Winamp won't update to the new one.

"Read metadata on selected items" doesn't seem to help. Nor a Winamp restart.

ernstblaauw 24th August 2007 06:24

Winamp Playlist Generator does not work for me. The first time I started WinAmp, I went to the preferences dialog and pressed 'start'. However, scanning took long, so after an hour or something, when I exitted WinAmp, the scanning process was not finished yet.
The next time I started WinAmp I looked again to the preferences dialog. It sais: "error initializing", and does nothing...

the only cause we saw of that before beta release was due to gen_nunzio not supporting a change made to the way that vis plugins work (gen_nunzio was fixed for this but the vis plugin's need some tweakage still) but then i can't look in the rar here at work so not sure where the crash is faulting in

Local AlbumArt is working nicely here using the standard 'folder.jpg' filename.

I have uploaded a complete coloreditor installer - see 1st post for the link.
The bug i mentioned was caused by a 3rd party plugin - will spend now some time to figure out which :)

DrO 24th August 2007 08:24

not first testing with a clean install, tsk tsk martin :D
saw your post just before i went to bed and wasn't sure if i'd messed up the compile or not (which would have been strange since Egg confirmed it worked ok)

Okay, I renamed the ipod_control folder on my Nano, initialised a new database and pmp_ipod successfully mounts the ipod.

Is there some incompatibility with the ml_ipod database?

James

If both are compatible with itunes, id have assumed not. But both utilize the database differently, and there is always the potential of a race condition causing corruption. best bet is to use one, or the other, not both.

Awesome

Wow, this is awesome! The album art support really "kicks the Llama's ass" :D

Been nagging the devs since 2003 for this functionality!

Only for a nice off-line "playing album art" I still use Cover&Tag

[v2.0?] http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/138565
[v3.30] http://www.angelfire.com/blog/richte...l/plugin5.html

DJ Egg 24th August 2007 10:49

@cybermarz
As stated in the first post, Album Art support is still incomplete.
There's much more to come yet :-)

@ernstblaauw
For solution, see link to post I've edited into your post.

@billyvnilly
Crash is caused by an older version of One For Nunz plugin.
I've edited a link to newer version into DrO's reply above.

@TH3ROOKIE & siebe83
Hmm, interesting. It always sees folder.jpg first, so it won't see any new cover.jpg if folder.jpg exists, and it won't see %album%.jpg if cover.jpg exists, etc.
However, it should see a newer folder.jpg....
I suspect it's a cache related issue.
For now, with Winamp closed, you could just delete the art*.* files in the Plugins\ml folder (art.dat, art.idx, art_60.idx/dat, etc).

DummyDDD 24th August 2007 13:06

If you install the new beta without modern skin support (or whatever it is gen_ff does) it will produce the following error message (at least on my system):
"DDE Server Window: winamp.exe - Component not found
This program could not start, as tataki.dll was not found." with an ok button. When I hit Ok the error message disappears and winamp goes on to work as it is supposed to. I would guess that the error message displays, because you still need to fix up some things, from moving the rendering code from gen_ff.dll to tataki.dll.

I'm running vista home premium with the latest drivers.

[edit]
I just realised that the media library doesn't work either, so I tried extracting tataki.dll from the installer to the winamp dir, and things started working again, so it's probably just a bug in the installer script

I found out that no 3rd party plugin was causing this error, but my old studio.xnf (on both, win xp and vista)
i will try to figure out why... i probably was playing round with some of the xml and it got broken.

but i have a new error, can anyone confirm this: select a colortheme and push clone or create a new one - give it a name - push ok --> crash (on vista, xp should have none)

I will open a new thread for the coloreditor in a few mins, so we won't cross CE and WA :)

CraigF, yes, I agree, if the database works correctly on the iPod it should also work using pmp_ipod, regardless of which software (ml_ipod) was used to manage the music.

Furthermore, WinAMP should not crash when connecting an iPod.

Kind regards,
James

DrO 24th August 2007 14:59

it's Winamp not WinAMP (sorry but that's a bug bear of mine when people name it wrongly) - it hasn't been WinAMP for years. (hope this doesn't come over badly but just had to say something so it's not personal)

Judging by the rash dump (although it was just a log file), I think winamp was mis-handling a problem in your ipod_control\itunes\PlayCounts or something in the artwork folder. Could you email them to me?

The database itself works fine for me.

Cover View shows incorrect ratings, both in large and medium size detail. In fact, 5 stars are always shown.

retchless 24th August 2007 17:49

Fantastic!!! I love the new album art features... I especially like that it reads embedded art as well. Can't wait to play with the next beta.

Any plans to have an option for the "get album art" feature to embed the art in id3 tags? I hope so!
