Unwanted Url in Bento
When I thought that I'd have to stop using winamp, I started experimenting with another media player called the Quintessential Player and the Quintessential Media Player. Now when I listen to my own stream in Winamp 5.5 (which seems to maximize and minimize now that I don't have the spacial audio stacker installed nor the Project Normalizer), it has the url for the homesite of QCD where it says "Visit Station Homepage" when my mouse runs over that area. I've uninstalled both QCD and QMP and did another clean install of Winamp 5.5, and that url is still there. What should I do so it will display my stations homepage and not the QCD homepage?
I was told in another thread to go into the registry edit and look up the url of the QCD homepage (if I remember right) and alter it to what I would like it to be (the webpage for my internet radio station), however when I went into regedit and put in the url for the QCD homesite and searched, I came up with nothing. The Bento skin is nice but I don't want to constantly see the QCD url in the display window. How can I get it to display the url for my internet radio station, like it did before I tried QCD and QMP. Before I posted this, I went into the registry and searched for "QCD." Under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, I found a Application folder and beneath it is two folders, the first "qcdplayer.exe" and the second "QMPlayer.exe." When I highlight qcdplayer.exe, to the right I see two items: Name Type Data (Default) REG_SZ (value not set) FriendlyAppName REG_SZ Quintessential Player And when I highlight the QMPlayer.exe folder, to the right I see the same thing except under Data, it says "Quintesstian Media Player." If I delete those two folders, then when I relaunch my winamp 5.5, in the display window it should show the url of my internet radio station, right? |
Hi
Please explain exactly where you are seeing this qcd homepage url. A screenshot might help. Are we talking about your own Shoutcast Radio stream or something? If so, the Shoutcast Tech Support forum is where you want to be, not here. Check the sc_server and sc_dsp configs... and leave the registry alone ;-) |
Hey DJ Egg! I just took two screen shots while my dj had the stream and wrote in explainations of what I'm talking about.
screen shot 1 http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/urlshot1.jpg screen shot 2 http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/urlshot2.jpg As I mentioned above, in a previous thread - http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=279185 I was advised to go into regedit and I did that today. Even though I have had QCD and QMP uninstalled for a while now, they still have entries in my registry, that's why I asked about removing them. |
When I read this I turned over to the Bento skin to see what Michael was talking about and sure enough up the top of my winamp is that URL which isn't our URL for our website. It's not the shoutcast source cause on the Shoutcast Administrator page where it says the Stream URL is our website. I did download QCD but never installed it and have since deleted it out of my computer.

Moving this from Winamp Tech Support to Shoutcast Tech Support.
It's got nothing to do with the registry. Leave the registry alone. Look in one or both of your Shoutcast DNAS server config file (sc_serv.ini) or in the Shoutcast DSP plugin config. [Edit] Or see Tom's reply below :-D Yeah, maybe that's what's in the URL field of the ID3v2 tags for those mp3's? I assumed it might be something you'd set in your Shoutcast server/dsp config, ie. the stream adminstrator's homepage url, or something. Lord knows, I don't even use SHOUTcast Server or DSP. |
What do you want me to look for exactly?
I did broadcast using the QCD by nameing an empty notepad "winamp.exe" and putting it into the QCD folder but when I uninstalled QCD, I uninstalled the shoutcast source and winamp and did a clean re-install of everything. The SHOUTcast folder is only for the server and I don't have the server on my computer. Back in the fall of 2006, I tried using my computer as the server but it didn't work out. |
Also look in the ID3 tags of the music you broadcast and see if that URL is in there. At one point SHOUTcast would pass this info on to the user, perhaps this URL got added to the tags when you used the player.

I'll ask on the QCD forum if it's possible for the player to have added the quinware url when I tested out QCD and QMP.
|
I have been to the quinnware forum and so far they don't have an answer. What field of the ID3 tags do you think the url would have been put in? I still think it's because QCD and QMP is in the registry even though both have long since been uninstalled. I recall being advised to go into the registry and get rid of all traces of the yahoo toolbar when I was having problems a while back and it worked. Shoutcast wouldn't have any info about the quinnware url because I never put it into the shoutcast source. My other dj who lives in a different house, in a different state, in a different time zone, saw the quinnware url when she would listen to me where it says "Visit Station Homepage" in the Bento skin, but I would see it in the same place when I would listen to her and she never installed any of the quinnware products. I'm starting to think the only way to get rid of this is to do a system restore.

It would be in the Comment field or the URL field.
Going back and reviewing how this feature worked showed that it relied on the minibrowser (which is now gone), so this may not have been the cause. Another point to make is that there are two URLs that get sent to SHOUTcast, the station URL and the song URL. The station URL is the one shown on the DNAS and can only gets updated when the source connects. The song url can be changed at any time and it appears that this is the one you're seeing (you can see its value in the XML data). Furthermore in some limited testing I've done once the song URL is set it will remain unless it is changed. Try the following: In the DSP > Output tab > Yellowpages > Uncheck "Auto" for URL > Enter your station URL That should change it and hopefully it won't come back. Tom |
Tom, THANK YOU!!!!
This has been annoying the daylights out of me ever since this began. I have nothing against quinnware but seeing that url where my stations url should be was really starting to bug me. When I first downloaded 5.5 and saw that a browser had been added and that I could click on "Visit Station Homepage" and check out the webpage for Beauty From Ashes Radio, I thought, "How cool is this?! I can view my own station's webpage in Winamp! This rocks!" Then when the quinnware url got in there (and I still don't know how) I was bummed because it went to the quinnware site of course and not mine. I started thinking that anybody who tunes into us will see the quinnware url and won't visit our homepage which is a rare as it is. Now I'm going to start using the Bento skin again cause I like it, I had stopped using it because of this problem. Thank you again!!! I'm very happy now!! |
Thanks for helping us solve this problem, very much appreciated. I like the Bento skin, I get to change colors and they are cool.
Once again thanks. |
