Wrong track order when i select folder to play...
Hi, this may be a simple problem with a simple solution, but i couldn't find it with a few of the most obvious searches.
I have version 5.5. When i right click a folder and select 'play in winamp' the first track it plays will usually be about half way through, from there it will play them in order, and upon reaching the end of the album, it will play the tracks it skipped originally in order. It seems very odd, the track listing isn't random, but it seems to select a random start point. Strangely, it will sometimes start at the beginning and play them in the right order, i don't know how frequent this is because i go into the folder and select from there. Could other folder contents such as image files be throwing it off? Although it occurs whether they're there or not. I just want to make my complicated life that bit simpler, thanks in advance for any advice! |
Can anyone shed some light on this please?

The order and method for enqueuing a folder or a group of files and the way the show up on the playlist has always been a mystery to me too.
Anyone? |
Winamp plays/enqueues the files in the folder as they are listed in the folder (usually in alphabetical order). You can even enforce sorting filenames while adding them in Prefs -> Playlist -> When adding multiple files, sort by name.
However if you select multiple files from within a folder to be added to Winamp, the last selected file is added first (if the above sort option is disabled). |
I appreciate that feature, but it's not really relevent to my problem here. The ability to change your playlist options to sort the files by name surely has only a niche appeal.
I don't know why selecting multiple files from a folder would cause winamp to play the last one first, that makes no sense to me at all and I can see no practical application for it, perhaps you need to check your settings. But if anyone else has a problem with winamp seemingly randomly selecting which file to play first from a selection, before playing the rest in order, I would appreciate any feedback |
Do you have Shuffle on? Just a thought... or any extra plugins?

This isn't an issue with Wimamp. This is a common issue with all versions of windows. When selecting multiple files in any app that uses Windows common dialogues the last file in the selection will be the first file processed then the rest will follow in the order shown in the dialogue.
|
Thats because Windows Open dialog box keeps the last selected file as the first one internally, but I still can't understand why only the first track is random while others play in order!
