replay gain (can i manually enter value?)

Some songs have low volume.
when i edit the mp3 tag,
it will not let me enter a value for track gain.
The edit box seems to be read only.
the media library -> send to -> calculate replay gain
sets the track gain even lower (-6db)
How do i enter a track gain value manually?
I just want to put a 3 or 6db for some extra gain.

also, will this be recognized by portable mp3 players and wav converters like cdex?

You cannot change the gain manually (kind of defeats the purpose), and most portable players don't support it. Not sure about CDex, but CDex hasn't been updated in a long time, so I doubt it.

Plus, you can turn the volume up for files without Replay Gain.
Preferences > Playback > ReplayGain tab.

Re: replay gain (can i manually enter value?)

It's been a while, but I'm reasonably certain that you can use Foobar2000 to edit your RG values. Here's a couple links to start researching it:

EDIT: Wow... I see that I can now use Winamp v5.531 to edit RG values in APE tags. I'd set them with Foobar2000 quite some time back, but Winamp didn't support this back then. This is really great!
