Try using the same URL, but replace the extension MP3 with PLS, ie. http://100.100.100.4:8000/content/scpromo.pls .

Also, unless you have a subdirectory called "content" in your "content" folder, you shouldn't need to include the content dir. in the URL, so it would be http://100.100.100.4:8000/scpromo.pls .

I am getting the same error message, but with the following URL description:

"http://mp3.hearandsee.com:8000/accounttype/country/state/artistname/filename.pls"

I get the same error whether I use .mp3 or .pls. Any ideas?

You're going to have to elaborate a bit. Is that the exact text of the error message? How are you trying to connect to the server? Etc. Give as much detail as possible.

I also get invalid resource when trying to use the on-demand feature. I'm using version 1.666.1 for win32 and running on Windows NT 4. I've tried everything suggested in this forum and haven't had any luck. Normal streaming works fine. Are there any settings that need to be put in the config file? Or should this work 'out-of-the-box'?

TheBigA 29th August 2000 23:28

We are also using Shoutcast on NT4, service patch 6 applied... getting "Invalid Resource" message on Shoutcast server conslole when executing a URL from Netscape & WinAmp executing on the server, and from a LAN based PC using Windows NT. We are using this in an Intranet environment - no access to public Internet.

Paramters configured on server:

Portbase=8000
MaxUser=32
Password=password
Logfile=sc_serv.log
Realtime=1
ScreenLog=1
ShowLastSongs=10
SrcIP=127.0.0.1
DestIP=ANY
Yport=80
NameLookups=0
;RelayServer=
;RelayPort=
;RelayPublic=
AllowRelay=Yes
AllowPublicRelay=Yes
MetaInterval=8192

Any ideas?

Additional info to above detail post...
Using Winamp, we attempted to reach the server play list at.... www.srvername.com:8000/scpromo.pls

Error message on Server:

I think the problem is that u can't use sub-folders in your reference. http://i.p.adr.ess:port/content/subf...er/mymusic.pls will not work. The mp3 u want to stream on demand must be directly in the content folder.
I've been looking for a way to reference mp3s in sub folders, so if i'm wrong or u know of another way to reference mp3s for on demand streaming please email me! Thanx,
debauch

It looks like lots of people have this problem, and I am one of them. I can't get "on-demand" streaming to work at all, no matter what I use as a path or a target file, in or out of the content folder, or including the content folder as part of the path. Is anyone able to get on-demand streaming working, and if so how? BTW I'm using 1.7.1 (just got it) on Win98 platform. I get the same error (Invalid Resource).

Did that fix your problem? I am having similar trouble but the solution recommended did not fix it.

Same here for me. The docs made it sound so simple to stream on-demand mp3's, yet I cant get it right. The URL http://myip:8000/scpromo.mp3 does not work as well as http://myip:8000/content/scpromo.mp3 as in the docs. Would someone please post a fix? RealServer is not this hard.

I'm experiencing the same problem, I email shoutcast support and they said that spaces are not part of the HTTP Specs so, I changed a file from having spaces to having _'s and it still doesn't work, on older shoutcasts' DNAS it worked so I'm going back to an older one, if you need it try going to http://161.184.149.33:8000 and click the Top Title that reads "Mark J Jong's Web Site" there is a gift in there too! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/wink.gif

It works if you have an instance of SHOUTcast that is doing NOTHING other than the OnDemand, if you have it casting a station as well then it won't work.

Putting a gun to my head!

Ok, I have tried every single solution adressed in every thread in the forums. I'm still getting "Resource Error" message.
- The server is up and running correct
- I'm formatting my URL correctly (and I've tried every other incorrect permutation as well)
- My start in directory is C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast, and I've tried C:\Progra~1\SHOUTcast as well (In case "spaces" aren't supported by the GUI)
- And my Filenames are correctly formtted (i.e. pls)
- I've done it with and without the content folder in the URL.

ALL to no avail. Has there been some resolution I'm not aware of?!? Please help.. Anyone.
