Ouch! Good Catch. Confirmed. No matter what format I choose it creates the folder structure and a single file

DJ Egg 19th March 2008 23:34

Wow, this thread's sure taken a turn for the worse since I last looked... ;-)

@Dougout

Yup, good catch indeed!

ml_disc has been greatly updated for this release...
Last time I checked a day or so before the public beta was released, ripping was still working properly, heh.
But yeah, it's totally broken in this build, and just keeps overwriting each newly ripped track to eg. "X:\Path\To\Destination\Folder\X-\Path\To\Destination\Folder.mp3"

We'll get this fixed right away, and I'll put a note about it in the first post. Thanks.

Note: You can still rip one track at a time, then move/rename each file inbetween :-D

By the way....

Publisher = Record Label (ie. they are one and the same thing)

Also, CDDB/MusicID works perfectly fine here....

@gleemonex

Hmm, gen_crasher.dll is the Error Reporter tool included with the beta builds only.
Does it still crash if you remove that file from the Winamp\Plugins folder?

I'm pretty certain that the Lite version has been tested by someone on the dev team, although I haven't tested it personally (I couldn't live without things like the Media Library, ReplayGain Analysis, CDDB, CD Ripping, Modern skins, Milkdrop2 vis, etc).

@Serpher

What did you mean exactly by: Updating "Info about file" causes repeating of few seconds of the right now played song?

Did you mean when you edit the metadata for the currently playing song via "View File Info (Alt+3)" or "Edit Selected Items (Ctrl+E)", it causes a slight glitch in playback?
If yes, then that is normal expected behaviour.
It also depends on what file format it is, as it varies for each different type.
eg. for MP3, if you edit an ID3v2 tag, then the ID3v2 tag is found at the beginning of the file, which means that the whole file has to be copied/rewritten...

What "CD Stereo" image are you referring to?
Did you mean the ∞ Stereo indicator in the main window?
If yes, then I can't reproduce any crash here.
Which skin?
You can double-click "Stereo" to open the Playback page in the Prefs (Modern skins only, not Classic), but single-clicking it does nothing.

Or maybe it's a Polish lang pack issue....?

pjn123 19th March 2008 23:47

The ML Button sometimes looks like this:
(I know this might be a lame report but dont know how to reproduce it... But this was introduced in the early 5.53 betas. It was fixed partially sometime ago, because it used to be that after restart it was still that size, but now its correct again after Winamp restart)
http://skinconsortium.com/teamsc/pjn123/mlbutton.jpg
Screenshots in various skins(cpro, bento, classic)

EDIT: Hey found a way to reproduce it:
Yes I know ClassicPro is 3rd party stuff ;)
Use any Cpro skin and have the ML openned with the drawer(eq, tagviewer..area) openned too.
Now resize the player to smaller height so that that button area dont have enough room... button will now be gone till next restart.

Bento bug:

Step1: Resize the skin like this:
http://skinconsortium.com/teamsc/pjn123/bentobug1.jpg

Step2: Now resize it to the minimum width like this:
http://skinconsortium.com/teamsc/pjn123/bentobug2.jpg

gleemonex 20th March 2008 00:32

ok, i think i have a lead for you on the source of the crashing on my system.

i just installed the lite 553 beta and went through removing one plugin at a time until i found the one that seemed to be making it crash... in_cdda.dll
after i remove that plugin, the crashing on exit stops. i replaced the in_cdda.dll that's supplied with 553 beta with the one from 552 and it's working fine. no crashes on exit.
if i put the 553beta in_cdda.dll back in, open the program and then exit, it goes right back to crashing.

hope this helps.

DJ Egg 20th March 2008 03:00

Yes, it helps.

Looks like we forgot to include nde.dll with Lite,
as in_cdda now uses it for the local cd database....

We'll fix it up for the next build... thanks.

Zero2FiftyIn4 20th March 2008 04:19

I'm liking the new "get album art" layout (it is different right, I havent used it in a while) it seems to return results faster and more accurately now. So far no problems from me. Keep it up

Yes, but in 5.22 doesn't have this "behaviour".

Yes, I know that.

Yes, the Stereo indicator in the main window.
Modern Skin.
But it only happens sometimes. Not by all the time.

I don't think so.

love the color editor needed the before i tried learning the xml code (very difficult)

doodle2 21st March 2008 11:39

A weird issue I noticed with the new beta...
I use the ML with 3 views: Artist, Album, Album Art.

With this new version, I noticed that Winamp no longer groups certain tracks that are from the same album. What I mean is, that in the Cover Art view of the ML, instead of seeing one box for an album, it shows N boxes, where N is the number of tracks in that particular album.

This seems to happen with certain albums, not with all. I tried removing my ML and readding everything - still same problem.

The albums in question of course have the same "Album" tag - no differences. They are all in the same folder and have the same cover art (if any).

I'm using Windows Vista SP1, no plugins.

Sawg 21st March 2008 11:42

What about the Artist tag, is that different? If so, try setting "Album Artist" to all the same thing (if it's a compilation, then it could be generic as in "Various Artists"). Otherwise, same album name, different artists == different albums.

You're right, I did notice that it happens in albums with different artists. I guess that's a logical behavior... thanks!

Yup. First post edited accordingly. Bug fixed internally. Thanks.

Winamp Essentials Pack v5.53 Beta 2

Download: Mirror 1 | Mirror 2

5.52/5.53 Beta 2:

* New: [Installer] added Dutch translation (thanks to Paul van Garderen)
* Updated: [gen_nopro] Lite-n Winamp Preferences to v1.4.1
* Updated: [Installer] Italian language file to v1.08 (thanks to etms51)

Full Changelog

Nunzio390 23rd March 2008 14:38

Koopatrooper...

Is there a separate NSIS installer file available for Lite-n Winamp Preferences v1.4.1 [gen_nopro] that is now bundled with the above Essentials Pack? I would like to replace what is offered HERE with it, along with newer screenshots. Since Darren has been recently overwhelmed with real-life matters, I've been trying to maintain the pages at his site for him as best as I can. Also, having the changelog for what was done for Lite-n Winamp Preferences would be helpful too, in order to update Darren's site with that info as well. I know that certain fixes were made since it wasn't operating properly with 5.53.

Or Egg...

Do you have that info? If so, can you email me at webmaster AT nunzioweb.com with it?

Koopa 23rd March 2008 14:42

Nunzio: Check your PM inbox. I've sent you the link to the separate installer.

I guess some functionality of the plug-in was broken in Winamp 5.53, which was fixed for this version.

[Edit] I guess something like:

* Fixed compatibility with Winamp 5.53 and above

should be ok. :)

Nunzio390 23rd March 2008 14:45

Thanks! Very good! I have it.
Anything insofar as a changelog I can add to Darrens' page as well?

Ahhh...

Web page updated for v1.41 :)

robdog2004 24th March 2008 21:05

when is the 5.53 scheduled to be released to the main home page

YtseJam 24th March 2008 21:18

When It's Ready.

robdog2004 24th March 2008 21:19

does anybody know when that is or is it too soon to tell

Nunzio390 24th March 2008 21:30

robdog...

Nobody knows for sure, and we never do (it's been that way with every release candidate), but since you are fairly new here and weren't aware of that, here's more info referencing your question. ;)

robdog2004 24th March 2008 21:40

thanks nunz

J_Darnley 25th March 2008 20:48

I found another nice undocumented feature which has already helped me out. It let me get a couple more missing covers that don't turn up anything with the default search.

martin.deimos 26th March 2008 06:48

oh, i think we forgot to mention about ;)
egg, perhaps add to the what's new list or to the forums post

Why did you show a screenshot of the default search then? Any chance we could see a shot of the undocumented feature?

J_Darnley 26th March 2008 10:51

The boxes are the new features or did you somehow fail to notice them. Those boxes allow you to change what is searched for when you hit the search button.

pjn123 26th March 2008 14:33

Dont know if this is a bug:

Typing 'nullsoft' in the ML Searchbox will enable the modern skins easter egg mode. Know things was changed with the keyboard keys so just a note.

robdog2004 26th March 2008 18:15

robdog2004 27th March 2008 03:51
