Problem with Logitech Multimedia Keyboard Plugin
I just got this plugin the other day and it was working great. The icon down in the taskbar started to bother me but I thought no problem I have the option to hide it. And this worked until I restarted winamp and I couldn't control it much anymore with my Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard. So I went to check in the settings to disable the hide thing or to uninstall it but it wasn't on the list. I went to the plugins folder and the files gen_LMKP.Plugin.dll and LMKP.dll are still there. So why isn't the plugin showing up? I have tried deleting the files from the plugins folder and reinstalling but it wont show up on the list anymore. And the reason I need this plugin is because the keyboard by itself sometimes works but I often have to press the buttons a few times for it to do anything, and its not the keyboard because before I decided to hide the icon from LMKP it was working great! And I don't like that Enable Default Multimedia Support because then I can't assign other functions to do the same on the numpad.
Edit: Actually that option WinAMP has for these type of keyboards doesn't even work without me having the window on top. So I really need to get this Logitech plugin working again! |
What? Are you talking about this old thing? --> Logitech Multimedia Keyboard Plugin
If so, it's old, buggy, and not even needed any longer. Winamp's native Global Hotkeys are all that's needed now. You said you have the Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard, right? Make certain that you have Winamp's Global Hotkeys enabled. Here is a thread referencing your same keyboard and how to end the "itype.exe" process to allow it to work, if running into problems. The 2nd poster in the thread breaks it down into steps... Media control keys in winamp on Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard In addition, here's a screenshot to help you along... http://nunzioweb.com/images/winamp/5...rd-support.gif |
Yes thats the one I was talking about and I just tried what you suggested but like I said before using that I sometimes have to press the buttons a few times before it does anything! And doing it that way specified in the thread still gives me the same results of having to press the buttons over and over before they do anything. (not always, but most of the time)

Logitech iTouch or Logitech SetPoint software should support Winamp, without the need of setting Global Hotkeys.
Even my old Cordless Desktop MX with iTouch 2.21 fully supports Winamp. For some keyboards, like some no name keyboards, you have to disable/uninstall the bundled software, before global hotkeys will work for it. |
I don't have a Logitech keyboard, I just found a thread somewhere on Google about the Logitech Multimedia Keyboard plugin which was supposed to get it working for my Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard for WinAMP.

Try to disable the Microsoft software for it and then set the global hotkeys. As i said above:

Like Nunzio said, there is an old Logitech plugin aviable, but i doubt that this is still working with Winamp 5.5 and above. If nothing else helps, contact Microsoft and blame them for their software. At a guess, the keyboard is just working fine with windows media player? |
Wait a minute... you can't use both. I think that's what's happening.
First uninstall that old Logitech Multimedia Keyboard Plugin you said you installed. Do that first. Then do what Koopa said - disable the Microsoft software for your Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard, and then set the Global Hotkeys in Winamp. |
It works like that right NOW...but what about when I exit WinAMP and come back to it? Am I going to have to redo this? See that is the reason I want to get the Logitech Plugin working again, sure it's buggy (probably why it disappeared from my config when I set the option to never show it in the taskbar even though the dll files are still in the plugins folder), but its was working better than the WinAMP thing. So now I need to figure out how to reset wherever those options are saved so I can just leave it as is and keep its little icon.
Edit: Ok, so as long as I don't open that itype.exe it works with the WinAMP multimedia hotkey thing enabled, but then what good was buying this keyboard if I can't use all the shortcuts I setup on the buttons for this keyboard? Is there another alternative to the Logitech plugin that is known to work with other multimedia keyboards such as my Microsoft one? Or how do I reset the options I set in the plugin? I tried deleting the dll files and reinstalling but it still is not showing. EDIT:EDIT: I don't know how but I have itype.exe running with both hotkey options in winamp on and no error and after reinstalling winamp I can see the logitech plugin again...guess it was a WinAMP bug. EDIT:EDIT:EDIT: Ok, now Logitech plugin isn't working for me anymore but the winamp hotkey options don't give me errors anymore itype.exe or not so....guess I will just stick to that. |
I have similar problem, although a little diferrent. They key commands work, but few days ago they started having a little delay (5-10 seconds) which is quite annoying. I guess the solution could be the same as here. Anybody has any idea how to fix this?
Thx a lot. |
Man, I think the problem with this is actually the Microsoft software. When closing itype.exe and using the Dimin Hotkey plugin I can see I can change the hotkeys from the menu and actually use them with Winamps built in multimedia keyboard function. Then I try to use Dimin's Hotkey plugin with itype.exe running and I can't change keys in the dimin settings anymore...Is there some sorta configurable software to sorta make our own setup for keyboards to replace Microsoft IntelliType Pro?

This is sad, but I've seen the global hotkeys issue with many different keyboards. I've bundled software is activated, you cannot configurate the hotkeys. Just disabling the software helps, but on the other hand you'll may loose some specific features of your keyboard. Blame the creators of your keyboards, it's their job to provide good software, which is compatible with other programs too. |
I have been trying different media players like Foobar2000 (Which I don't think looks very nice, but my media keyboard works on), Windows Media Player (which looks ok but just isn't as organized as Winamp, but again the keyboard works on it), and MediaMonkey (which I think is the next best thing to WinAMP but I mostly use this to organize my music files, the media keyboard works on this one too!).
So after finding that it works on those 3 above I think it really is just a problem with WinAMP...Any talk about future changes to the hotkey functions built into it? I guess for now I will just use MediaMonkey when trying to play/change music while ingame at the press of one button. I know the other hotkeys methods work like Ctrl+Alt+Insert, etc. but like I said before, but doing that kinda ruins the whole point of buying a media keyboard. |
