it still doesnt work though......i read here "If that doesn't work make sure you have the latest version of URL submitted by user.
(v8.x or higher is required)"

What is that URL?

Which setting exactly? You should write something more, otherwise I havn't a clue, what you're talking about.

i did "Multiple Speaker Output with Winamp 2x/5x

You need to use DirectSound Output:

Preferences (Ctrl-P) > Plug-ins > Output > Select "DirectSound Output"

That should work in most cases, but if not, then:

Checkmark: "Allow hardware acceleration" in DirectSound Output config,
and make sure your sound card/chip is selected as Output Device.

but it still not working for center and rear speaker...do i need to have file music which really encoded for 5.1 channel?

sknet 18th April 2008 18:19

in the directsound output settings it says

Device Info
===========
Certified: Yes, emulated: No
Supports sampe rates ......
Hardware memory: N/A
Hardware mixing: unsupported
Speaker setup: 5.1

My sound card is built-in from motherboard
SoundMax HD Audio << the sound card

That URL should point to the DirectX website. Unfortunately those links in posts by that former account have been hosed by the spam protection. Message to mods: can you please spend a little more time fixing up Sawg's FAQs, some have been done but clearly not all.

If you have 5.1 files then you need to check "Allow Surround sound" in Prefs -> Playback -> Playback. For stereo files there is sometimes a checkbox in Windows sound settings for fill speakers.

The fact that out_ds reports that you card doesn't support hardware mixing sounds like the problem. Have you disabled hardware acceleration in Windows?

i make it works with one of the plugin i downloaded from here.....the direct sound still not working....

Please post a DirectX logfile.

Start --> Run --> dxdiag --> Enter

Also post a list of your installed plugins:

"Hardware mixing: unsupported"

If that's what it says in out_ds config, then this means that "Allow hardware acceleration" is greyed-out for you, yes?

And that is why it doesn't work.

You could try looking on the pc or motherboard manufacturer's website for updated onboard Soundmax drivers, or you could invest in a proper pci soundcard...

sknet 19th April 2008 13:34

i can tick or untick "Allow hardware acceleration" so i think its not greyed-out which means can't be choose right?

My USB SoundBlaster Digital Music SX said the same tho.....

TQ
