New Docked Toolbar error with 5.54 and modern Skin
1 Attachment(s)
Hey,
I recently updated to 5.54 from 5.531. Since then I got an error everytime I closed Winamp (Don't know how it's named in english Windows. The errormessage where you have the option to send details to microsoft => see attached screenshot). Today I additionally recognized that winamp was constantly using a lot of memory. About 150MB. So I went through the forums and most people solved the memory problem by reinstalling winamp from scratch. Then I deinstalled it completely and reinstalled it. The crash-problem still consists and now I have the old "docked toolbar doesn't save its position"-problem again too. I had this in an earlier version, but it was fixed with with an update some time ago and before the fix I always had to rewrite some passages in the studio.xnf file after an update. Atleast the memory usage is down to 60MB now. Been trying to find a solution to this for hours now, by myself and by searching this forum, but nothing came up for 5.54. I also scanned my computer with my anti-virus, some spyware tools and Highjackthis had nothing to complain about either. In details: - Install winamp 5.54 to standard directory - Enable winamp modern skin support - Use winamp modern skin - Turn on windowshade mode - Enable docked toolbar -> bottom in windows settings - Disable auto-hide - Arrange playlist and media library on screen as you like - Close winamp - Winamp crashes - Rerun winamp - Nothing was saved due to the crash - No additional plug-ins or skins are installed and were removed before reinstallation! My specs are: Windows XP SP3 Athlon 3800 X2 Nvidia 6800GS Onboard Realtek Soundchip Asus A8N-SLI SE board Note that all drivers are up to date! Any solutions? |
Hi,
Ok if anyone has the same problem. It seems so far I finally fixed it myself by uninstalling and reinstalling the "online services plug-in" and the "now playing plug-in". I don't know why, but this procedure solved the problem. Winamp now saves it's settings and doesn't crash when closing. I thought of these plug-ins, because they have never worked properly in the first place. Always some javascript errors and stuff (the same with some other IE based plug-ins by the way). My IE allows javascript though. Memory usage is back up to 90MB. Too much for a media player in my opinion. Earlier versions were much lighter than this 10th anniversary edition. Or does this subtitle mean winamp is using 10 times the amount of RAM a media player should? Well, I think I'm simply going to deal with it -- as long as my machine has enough free rescources to listen to music with winamp. Greetz |
