Problem: 5.54 Plays Japanese songs @ 300% !!!

I need some help. I've just downloaded the new Winamp 5.54 and when I play Japanese songs it plays them about 3 times faster than normal speed ! It never did this on past version. To see if it was an English version problem I have downloaded the Japanese version of 5.54 to check if that version would fix it but still it's the same problem as the English 5.54 !

Here is my thought, Winamp cannot handle UTF-8 because the files that it plays at 3 times speed you can see the Kanji and Hiragana of the song title displayed properly, but when I load another song and it plays fine, the title comes up as garbage.

Winamp handles UTF-8 just fine and Japanese filenames perfectly as well.

MP3's play at double speed, distorted, or no longer play at all (malware related)

Follow that link, be sure to include the my_plugin_list and especially the HijackThis log.

I appreciate your reply.

However, it seems impossible this is malware related. I formatted my entire system and re-installed Windows. Installed Antivirus then Antispyware programs and then installed Winamp 5.54.

So that's simply not possible.

Why do songs my Japanese songs from 1991 - 2000 play at 300% and not the songs from 2001 - 2005... this really doesn't seem like malware.

Dude, I've just installed it so there is no plugins. What is HijackThis log? I don't spend my life here, I just tried to use a program that is supposed to work and it doesn't.

Nobody here speaks in full sentences and I wonder how this is a technical help place. It's painfully frustrating.

If it is a Malware, then why is it that PCtools, Spyware Terminator and Windows Malicious Spyware Removal tool doesn't find anything?

Then I scanned the file winloe32.dll or whatever and it came up with nothing. So then what should I do?

I came here with patience and politeness and I'm feeling very angry because it is expected that I read your mind.

This is supposed to be "Winamp Technical Support"

I just wish I never installed the new Winamp.

I shouldn't get angry... I appreciate your help. How can I get rid of this malware, if it's there?

You are expected to read the things we provide then then do what they tell you. The link says what you need to do to provide us with the Hijack This log. We also ask for a "my plugins list" because it tells us more than just what plugins are present. Also most people haven't a clue what they install.

Of course we can also completely ignore you.

Instructions for attaching the HijackThis and/or dxdiag log(s) to your post:

Attach the log and don't post it directly into the thread, else it may break tables.

Start HijackThis.exe, click "Do a system scan and save a log file", change the extension from .log to .txt (ie. save it as hijackthis.txt, not hijackthis.log) and attach the log to your post via the "Post a Reply" button in your thread (or via "Post a New Topic" if starting a brand new thread for a new topic).

Don't try to fix anything with HJT unless you're absolutely sure what it is!
(ie. until an expert here tells you exactly what to fix after they've seen the log).
Most of the entries in the log will be harmless or even essential/required.

If you are also including a dxdiag log and my_plugins_list.txt, then zip up all 3 files into one .zip and attach the .zip to your post.

That's pretty cold. I was asking for more clear communications and lost my temper because I felt those responding had no respect for me. I did read all of that stuff, but it didn't seem fitting and wasn't clear at all. I'm now in my eighth year of Uni so I'm not stupid... I just wanted some respect.

I ran the scan and here is the log.

I must say I found something peculiar today. When I ran one of those MP3 files, that were at 300% speed, in Windows Media Player it tried to load an HTML page through firefox and was blocked, saying that IP address was trying to gain access to my computer. Could it be that some malware has attached itself inside my music files???

Pretty scary stuff.

tjreeves 20th July 2008 09:10

I'm sorry, should I include a list of plugins. I un-installed Winamp 5.54 and installed an older 2.76. Still the problem continues so I'm thinking you guys were right with the malware thing.

If so how do I get rid of this malware?

Please be patient with me, I'm freaking out a bit, because I'm scared I'm gonna lose all my Japanese music.
