LockUp on Gracenote-lookup...
 

Hello,

not found with 'Gracenote', 'Lookup'... :(

I am a new one, because i have annoying trouble and will transport this problem:

I like ripping my new Audios with WMP5.54pro_DE on Win Vista Ultimate.
Reading the fresh Audio, Alt+3 /MusicID call Gracenote.

WMP will lock every time, when the Info-Windows is on search for track-infos, which are not needed yet. :(

Have i to wait for an answer in this window or can i switch it off by default...?

I am just evrytime conzentratet on my fast doing the window above, so it happens often, that the WMP-task is to close with restarting it more conzentratet. ;)

Hope for any hints. :)

P. S. It seems to me, that there is any net-collision with both lookup-services.

Try :-

Prefs > Input plugins > Nullsoft CD Plug-in > Configure > Uncheck 'Use MusicID'

The MusicID is needed on my lookup at Gracenote for CDDB-tags as well as the plugin checks this.

The Show Info-service below is not needed...
If I Hide Info, is the service switcht off...? Seems so.

If I click a track and switch 'Show Info' the window opens and shows a busy content and finally the info, if it ist found.

Maybe my solution ist to Hide Info... I will try.

But the WMP-developement should note that there is any collision.
I can't verify, if it is touched by mine firewall or on the called Gracenote-server.

really sounds like the firewall isnt allowing winamp to connect to the internet you can check with your firewall (if it has a program tab or option check there) all the show info does is it shows info on the artist (and if possible the cd) but you have to be connected to the internet and firewall has to allow program to connect (winamp and internet explorer) now if there is a problem with your intenet explorer may need to reinstall the current version (download from microsoft and it'll overwrite the original even if same version)

Everything works fine for me.
My lap is connected permanent to internet.
The lookup from show info works so long i make no lookup from file info to CDDB at Gracenote. If i do, both lookups are freezing...

The workaround closing the show info stops lookups from there. There are no mor lookups while the window is closed, so i can do my work on editing my files for ripping.

But i will check the firewall.
Do you know which ports are in use from WMP?

well i know internet explorer uses port 80 most of the time and windows media is port 1755 now i believe winamp uses the same ports except in shoutcast (please correct me if im wrong) but for as all ports it uses i cant tell you (that question would be best left for a moderator to answer

I have had some looks for informations on port but without any success. Seems, that WMP take use of existing standard ports except shoutcasts.
So I spend no more time on it, because I found a way around the prob.
