Computer issue.
I've got this computer up here at my workplace. I bought a USB wifi adapter to hop on the wifi connection.. but I'm not able to get the onboard audio to show up. Motherboard is Intel D845GERG2. There are no unknown devices in device manager, I've reinstalled the chipset drivers.. and there is no option to turn audio on or off in BIOS (but I did reset it to defaults which had no effect).
Am I missing something? There are in/out audio ports in both front and back. O_o Installing the audio driver for AC97 listed on the Intel site for the mobo results in "Driver not found! Restart your system and run this setup again".. :[ Some proprietary system.. omni tech corporation |
so far, no clue
I doubt this is related, but I noticed you mentioned buying the USB wifi hardware. Did the audio work before you installed it, or was that something you mentioned in passing? Anyway, I'm guessing you alredy know to check this, but I'm mentioning it just in case... Is the device you're plugging into the computer to play music known to work on other systems? In other words, whatever you're plugging into those audio outs - does it play sound when plugging it into other computers? If not then it's not the computer at fault. Your last paragraph seems to prove it's much more complicated than that though. Since I have no idea how to fix this, my only advice at this point is to recommend that you try to find tech support forums that are more related to intel motherboard problems, or find an old (or new) sound card you can plug in and use. |
The sound was always nonfunctional. I've ordered a USB device that basically shows up as a sound card and had an input/output on it :]

That should work, but (and here I am being master of the obvious again) don't throw away the receipt/packaging until you see that it does.

I suppose you've already tried it but have you tried the audio driver from intel.com (link)?
|
Yeah, it won't actually install. It errors out when it says that the audio device is not installed into the system (makes sense, doesn't show up in device manager)
I don't know really, I had never encountered this issue before. |
