Laggy DShow video playback

Hi, i love winamp and always use it for all my audio playback, but i cant seem to be able to watch fluid video on DirectShow input (at least for .avi files) the video is always a bit choppy and its not very pleasing to watch. The problem is not my graphics card, nor the performances of my computer, i am running on a Nvidia 8800GT and a dual core with 2gb ram, so thats not a problem. Everything that is not DShow related (windows media player, vlc, porosillosoft Avi input, etc..) is very fluid and works perfectly. I also dont have any viruses or programs that slows my computer, i am running vista and it is 100% clean, i use DX10 and dxdiag says everything is good and enabled, in fact, i use to format a lot and directshow never was fluid (on vista as long as i remember). The reason i want to watch movies on winamp is my sound enhancing plugin. I tried everything, putting playback and winamps priority to the max, using winamps default sound output plugins, disabling DSPs and disabling hardware acceleration and overlay but it doesnt change anything.

Thanks for your replys,
Dom

Edit: i also tried with ffdshow codecs, and they are enabled

yeah, the problem is because windows vista doesn't support the old style of hardware overlay(due to the drm crap on the OS)

vlc does suffer the problem when aero is enabled aswell(not quite as badly though) and windows media is fixed.

I think its on the wishlist to include a EVR output module for video which should fix this.

so yeah we know about it, its not a bug with winamp, all the blame goes to microsoft for making a crap operating system.

with only 1 winamp developer, its hard to get something like this implemented.
