Winamp loops during startup

Hi Guys,

first of all, the annoying part:

Computer: PC
OS: WIndows Vista Home
Plugins: None
file types uesed: MP3

also annoying: to register to go here to inform you about your buggy software...

The problem: I bought winamp pro a year ago and all was fine. The upgrade message of winamp started to annoy me and so I upgraded. I deeply regret it...

A version ago WinVista always warned me during winamp startup, that winamp wants some access to registry which is restricted. I had to manually confirm the access every time I started winamp. Good point. Do you test your releases?

Now Version 5.541 came out and I thought that this annoyance was fixed. Far from it! My winamp again wanted me to upgrade. I did it and now it won't even work at all. The install wizard (which skin for startup, etc.) loops, you can cancel it, skip save process, etc. no matter what you do, the wizard restarts and still no winamp main window is accessible. I have to kill all winamp.exe processes in order to get rid of the wizard.

So Winamp is gone for me and I'm really pissed. I want a version which works (2 versions ago), and a NO UPGRADE version. Never change a running system. Winamp was good and is getting worse, so why upgrade?

Where can I get my old Winamp Pro Version and where can I disable upgrade agents, etc.?
