Shuffle goes down list (not even shuffling)

I searched and searched, and no one seems to have my issue.

I've read about shuffling going in the same order, but my shuffling is practically the SAME on AND off!

Right now, I made a list of 10 songs, and I'm going to list the order it goes in:

(starting with 1)
54321(10)987
21(10)987
34568

In this case with 10 songs, it apparently counts down, reaches all songs, then reaches a random song, and counts down again. (with that last exception of counting up) This is the same case with 300 songs, except it counts down 299 songs before randomizing 1 song, and starting from there to count down again.

Similarly, if I click on randomize list, the bottom song goes to the top, and when repeated, does the same over.

Currently I'm in the process of cleaning out ALL winamp related files. I'm using vista (since all drivers for my lappy are proprietary and never to be made for XP), and I'm going to basically use uninstall, and then clear out the winamp folder in folder "appdata".

Any help will be appreciated, and I'll post my results after reinstall.

Re-installed, no progress. Please help

Gener21839 31st August 2008 02:56

Bump for great justice!
Seriously though, any info would be appreciated, and if you need any info from me, I'll be glad to provide it.

Listening to everything in order just isn't interesting.

I still have this problem!!
I currently have over 250 songs. This only happens on Winamp. If I click (from) Playlist>misc>sort>randomize_list the last song gets put to the top of the list. THAT'S ALL!

I'm not kidding. This is really annoying.

I'm using Vista Home Prem. Ed.

This happens with fresh installs (I delete appdata directories, and wade through registry), installs on diff directories.

Someone has to know wtf is causing this.

Additional info:
My PC specs

Newest Winamp vers affected. (5.541)

Plugins irrelevant because I'm affected by totally fresh installs.

As for shuffling, have you tried increasing the shuffle morph rate slider?
Winamp > Ctrl+P (for Preferences) > General Preferences > Playlist

I can not reproduce the randomize issue.

Please provide Winamp & system specs.

I tried having it together, but the forum sorta censors it.

Sorry, but you'll have to put it together.

Anyway, I provided winamp vers, and plugins are irrelevant. What else about it would you like?

Oh, and yes, I have used the morph bar. That is to say, I have played with it to both extremes extensively.

Gener21839 8th December 2008 16:10

I can't help but feel like this issue has something to do with permission accesses. Maybe drivers (all up to date), limit access to something with CPU random number generator.

Hell, I have no idea, but this issue is certainly reproducible on the computer with this issue.

Over, and over, and over, and over, and... to ad nauseum.

Gener21839 8th December 2008 16:20

If a moderator disbelieves this issue, then I'm willing to use MSN messenger's remote system control to allow someone credible (via forum posts/mod status) to go ahead and mess with my comp.

Not too soon because of finals, but if I can keep communication with someone in particular, then I'm sure something like that may happen.

JonnyMac 8th December 2008 16:24

I doubt that it is a permissions issue, however try right clicking on a Winamp desktop or start menu item and select 'Run as administrator'.

Otherwise, please provide a plug-ins list and HijackThis log as described in specs link. Even if you have a default or new installation of Winamp, the plug-ins list provides additional info that can help the gurus here find the problem.

Gener21839 8th December 2008 16:29

I'll provide a list sooner or later.

For now though, I want to say I did some reading. Is it likely that last.fm is the culprit?

I'm uninstalling it now anyway.

I'll report if it worked out.

Gener21839 8th December 2008 16:36

No dice so far. I'm going to restart. Maybe it'll do something. I just installed HijackThis as well. How do you want me to present the log file?

JonnyMac 8th December 2008 16:39

You can zip the plug-ins list a HjT log in a file and attach it in your next post

Tada!

Don't mind asking for anything. I really want this issue fixed.

JonnyMac 8th December 2008 17:42

You have third party plugin...

<< General Purpose plugins >>

Amp Randomizer 2 [gen_ampr.dll]

That could be causing the issue, try uninstalling the plug-in. Otherwise, I can't see what is causing the issue. Anyone else?

Gener21839 8th December 2008 17:48

I installed it to help cope with the issue meanwhile.

I had the issue in question long before I was ever introduced to that plug-in.

DrO 8th December 2008 17:48

i'd go with Amp Randomizer 2 [gen_ampr.dll] being the problem especially seeing as it's designed to override winamp's shuffle behaviour so "Plugins irrelevant because I'm affected by totally fresh installs." doesn't seem to be the case (don't mean this to come over as a moan but having provided those files earlier on would have given people a better idea of what might be going on).

now if things are still messed up without that plugin in there then i'd be baffled as everything else does look like a standard clean install.

[edit]
meh too slow and what a waste of post 10000

[edit2]
the only other thing is to go through moving/disabling all of those plugins listed in the listing and see if it happens with just winamp.exe and then add the plugins back in one at a time to see if one of them is causing it. other than that i really cannot think of what is going to be causing something like that. would even say move/rename gen_jumpex.dll to gen_jumpex.off and see if that has any effect since that can also override the playback process.
