Auto Tagger does not wori
 

I installed Winamp Pro 5.541 10 days ago. Auto tagging was working fine. Since two days (sind 12.09.08) I does not work and I always get the message that there is no hit. Is this an issue in the software, the settings (I did not change them, I use no proxy) or is there an issue with Gracenote?:(

Hi,

I could solve the problem. I was working on a VPN and had to enter a proxy in the general settings of winamp. Aferwards I deleted the proxy in the general settings of winamp. No proxy was shown. Access to Gracnote (CDDB) did not work. I uninstalles winamp and used a software to delete all remaining entries in the registry and reinstalled winamp --> It did not work.

I found on entry in the registry regarding CDDB

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CDDB

I deleted all entries from this path and restarted winamp again and now the access to CDDB is working fine.

It seems to me that some proxy information are stored in the registry that are not deleted when you delete the proxy information in the general settings of winamp. Once a proxy - always a proxy - regardless how you configure winamp!:mad:

I can't thank you enough for this! This problem has been doing my head in for ages trying to work out what the hell it could be!

I thought I'd register just so I could say thanks - I'd have never thought of that solution myself.
