Crashing when using a portable

I have recently installed Winamp. First time user and i've bought the gold version. I'm thinking i've wasted my money.

Here is what happens.

As soon as i plug in my portable player (samsung p2) winamp closes. No warning, no error message, nothing. It just closes.

It started out working ok until i tried some things. Firstly i installed the lyric search thingo. This didn't seem to interupt anything. Next i went through and deleted music from my library and also from my hard drive (but not my portable). This is where things started to go wrong.

Then i've deleted from the portable (using windows explorer), but this hasn't helped.

I've now uninstalled the lyric search thingo but this hasn't helped either.

If i start winamp with my portable not connected i don't seem to have any problems?

What do i do??? Have i wasted my money?

Ok, i've now uninstalled winamp and reinstalled and it seems to be working for now... However, i don't think that programs that are "gold" and paid for should have issues.

I'm glad it's working (for now) and haven't wasted money (for now), but if i pay i would hope the programme would work.

Perhaps there could be online support, like a live chatroom.

first of all... we dont have your mp3 player to test, and its not guaranteed to work, but we try our best.

have you tried removing un-necessary pmp plugins?

are you using other programs that might be conflicting with winamp at the same time(like the software that came with the device.

we don't know dude, give us some real information to work on and maybe we can help you.

sorry

I appreciate you can't possibly own every MP3 player in the world.

Unfortunately i'm not great at getting the info that you need.

I do have the emodio software installed but not runing when i use winamp.

After my first effort i only use the standard install of Wiamp with no extra plugins.

On one of the reinstalls the lyric finder add on that i had originally installed managed to find it's way back. No idea how that happened.

The crashing seems to start happening when i start deleting music from Winamp.

I wish i could give you some more info. Perhaps you could ask samsung to "donate" a P2 so you can run some tests. I'd donate mine but i'm kinda using it :)

I appreciate that you're trying to help

My Winamp won't work with certain players detected either. That's kind of a serious bug and unfortunately why I use Media Monkey to sync. MM detects and works with almost anything. I thought Media Monkey was based on Winamp?

But I do love Winamp's included Lame Encoder and Gracenote function, so that's mainly what I use it for.

P.S. The current player it won't play nice with is the newer Sony E436F. I have a Samsung P2 also and I think it did the same thing with that player. It won't crash with a Creative Zen or iPod though.
