hello, new winamp user with poweruser questions
 

it's been a long while since i last used winamp. i've been using itunes for the past several years and have finally gotten fed up with apple's software.

so here i am, latest free winamp version downloaded, currently testing it out to see if it's worth it for me to add all my music/video into it.

i have some poweruser questions with regard to encoding and decoding. for the AAC encoders, i see several listed, some of which will work only with Pro. I would like to know how these encoders compare to itunes encoders, quality, bitrate, etc. because itunes does not break down AAC types like it is done in winamp (LC/HE, etc.)

is there a thread I can read up on with regard to this ?
also, I was last using AAC 256kbps VBR in itunes 8, which encoder in winamp would be the equivalent ?

i am geared towards the sound quality of my library, but don't need to go up to 320kbps. i also would like to know if winamp's encoders allow gapless playback (as in itunes)...
