Track turns to static after it's paused..
 

I'm running Windows 2000, Winamp v5.541 (x86), Aug 3 2008.
When I pause a track and hit pause again to continue playin it, all I get is static. And my player shows it's resumed playing, and the timer is going. Then if I hit pause twice more, the song plays again. The same for both mp3's and wma's...
eg.
1. play track, timer starts, song plays normal
2. push pause, timer stops, song pauses
3. push pause again, timer starts, static
4. push pause again, timer stops
5. push pause again, timer starts, song plays normal

any idea why I get static on step 3?

It's a Soundmax onboard sound chip. I guess if I could get my company to upgrade this paper weight to a multimedia pc, I'd be laughin...
