Surround Stops Working
I'm using a 5.1 setup with a Creative SB Audigy 2 soundcard. I have the Stereo Surround option selected in the CMSS 3D options.
Now for some reason, when certain tracks change, the rear and center channels quit working. Changing sound settings does nothing, the only way for me to fix it is to simply pause and resume the song. So far, it only seems to happen on mp3s encoded with LAME. And it only happens when winamp automatically changes the track. (I can enque it and when it changes the channels drop. But if I manually switch to the song, the channels remain active, even if all I do is hit the Next button.) I'm unable to get this to happen with WMP or VLC. And the only 'temp' fix I can find is to re-encode problematic mp3s with MP3Pro. Surely you can see how this could be very annoying, especially since I have 5.1 headphones and speakers, and it's very noticeable (and causes the audio to become 'quiet') Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks! |
FAQ
Sound changes from multi-speaker to stereo on seek or pause/resume with Audigy 2 ZS http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=280863 <-- click It's a limitation of your soundcard, and you'll need to turn off either 24bit support or fade on stop/pause (in Winamp Prefs) to work around it. |
Sorry, I didn't mention that.
A.) Seeking or pause/resume fixes it back to surround when it drops to stereo. B.) All fading is disabled C.) Enabling / Disabling 24bit support and fully restarting winamp makes no differance with this problem. Thanks for your input though. |
