Library question (Albums of the same year)
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find a similar topic.
Currently, I have my artist list sorted alphabetically, but their tracks (and therefore their albums) are sorted by year. Automatically, when I click on an artist from the list, I see their albums on the right, ordered by year (If I click "All artists" I see a list of all my albums ordered chronologically). My problem is that albums that are from the same year are ordered alphabetically, which is kind of annoying, as the order is wrong many times. It really makes me wish there was a "month" tag, as "year" is not specific enough in these cases. Is there any way of getting Winamp to display albums of the same year in the order I want, while still displaying the rest chronologically? Preferably, without adding strange characters or additional information to the album title. Any help is appreciated. |
I know I probably shouldn't double post, but it's been almost a week and the thread has been buried by new topics... I'd just like to know if anyone might know something about this topic this time around.

You could make your years look like MM/DD/YYYY that might work other than that I don't think there is a way to do what you are asking.
Just curios what is the reason for the annoyance with it? Other than just knowing that the albums aren't in the proper release order. |
You see, the whole reason I switched to winamp was because other players didn't have the (in my opinion) very useful and nice-looking library. And usually, the tags weren't as visible and accessible as I find them to be on the winamp interface.
So... Because I switched to it to basically organize my stuff better, it's the one last thing I'd like to be able to fix to have my library completely organized. But how do I make my years look like that? It's not by modifying the id3 tags, right? Because it only accepts four-digit integers. |
When Winamp says years, it means years. MM/DD/YYYY is not a year, it is a date. Winamp doesn't have an explicit date field. I don't know what the max length of the years field but you could work around the lack of date support by entering something like:
YYYYMMDD or 20081123 for today |
| All times are GMT. The time now is 03:32. |
