Library/Playlist behavior
I'm having a problem. I have winamp 5.541. I have a playlist that contains every song in my library in random order. Sometimes I have the urge to listen to a particular song from my library.I type the first few letters of the song/artist in the library window, double click and *BAM* all the songs that were in my playlist previously are gone and now replaced by this one song.
What I want to happen is when I doubleclick on a song in the library it either jumps to the selected song in the playlist and starts playing it or adds the song to the playlist and starts playing it. Why the hell would I would want it to delete all my songs so I have to re-add them to my playlist? |
You can change the default double-click action to Enqueue, instead of Play,
via: Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Media Library -> Library Options tab However, this will just add the item to the end of the playlist... If you want it to also Play then I recommend that you install DrO's ml_enqplay plugin, which adds an "Enqueue & Play selection" item to the right-click menu (i.e. you'll need to right-click the items, not double-click them). Screenshot | Download You can also use the "right-click -> Send To -> Add to queue and play" feature, assuming you didn't uncheck "Extended Jump to File Support" in the Winamp installer options, and you've enabled it first via: Winamp -> Prefs -> Jump to File -> ML Options: Checkmark: Enable Media Library 'JTFE Queue Manager' view Checkmark: Enable 'Add to queue and play' entry on the 'Send to' menu. But alas, there's currently no way to make the default double-click ML action to be "Enqueue & Play". |
Same "problem" here. I have a huge playlist and i bookmarked the best songs. but when i play a bookmark it delete the whole playlist.
Isn't there a way that it just plays the song without adding it to the end of the playlist and without deleting the current playlist ? |

(I'm sure this is a swear word around here but...) iTunes handles this feature really well. Essentially your entire library is a playlist, and you can order it by any category you like, just like Winamp media library. The J search feature isn't "smart" enough. It's good when you're looking, but not for blind searches. i.e. I'm using my computer to play music and can type in a name without looking. For instance let's say I want to play the song by Alicia Keys "Diary"... well if no matter what permutation of that I type in I'm going to get a search returned with the entire album. Furthermore this is problematic for common words like "love". Basically Winamp's media Library and iTunes start out the same, but where Winamp fails is in it's ability to play a song and then return to random play. They both do well when you do a "Title" search, find the song and play it, but Winamp is unable to continue without a hitch. Why do I want such a feature? Because I play my Xbox360 on my computer monitor, and through my computer's speakers. With the setup on iTunes I could play my library at random, then when I wanted to hear a particular song I'd type it in, it'd play and the list would keep rolling. I'm sure the response coming is okay then just use iTunes... well I don't wanna. I've always liked Winamp better and iTunes just feels sluggish. Hell the only reason I use the damned thing is because of this feature (and putting songs on my iPod). |
