Multichannel audio in Winamp...
Hi, new poster here looking for help...
I've searched for an answer but couldn't find it... I need help to set up winamp so that I can output multichannel audio over s/pdif... In VLC player you can set the output module to "win32 waveOut Extension output" Is there any option anywhere that would do the same thing? The file I've been using to test is an XviD clip that uses 6ch (5.1) using the AC-3 ACM coded. I have a SoundBlaster X-Fi with the front drive bay using the optical out... Any help would be GREATLY appriciated! |
Preferences > Plugins > Output > Select DirectSound > Configure > Device tab

I'm looking at the device tab now and sadly I don't see any options other than Device (primary sound device or "SB X-FI Audio"(selected)), Allow hardware acceleration (checked) and Create primary buffer (unchecked)...
nothing about sending the audio stream straight to my receiver via S/PDIF :/ Thanks though Sawg  I do have audio working, but I'm looking to get 6 channel to stream without winamp decoding... |
Try WinampAC3
Btw even with "Allow surround sound" enabled I don't get 6 channels in DS output status window. What's wrong? I have Realtek AC'97 and Windows XP SP3. Any suggestions (everything is set up properly in Control Panel and ffdshow and ac3filter enumerate the channels appropriately) |

I'm still having issues getting 5.1 output... With VLC it works no sweat, but playing the same file in winamp, with the AC3filter set up in a manner I believe is proper, I get nothing but garbled noise...
Linked is a screenshot of the settings for both my AC3 filter, and WinampAC3... what am I missing? I can take screens of any other settings if having others will help... I don't have S/PDIF to verify your settings but PM me the snapshot and I'll take a look :)
