No Bass + Winamp Not Showing Up!
I've just installed Windows Vista (x64) and also installed Winamp. Now at the start, Winamp was running fine, then all of a sudden something happened & now the actual Winamp skin isn't showing up at all. As you can see from the screenshot, it is appearing in the taskbar & system tray but the actual skin isn't showing up even when I double click the icon in the system tray or taskbar.
Why would this be happening & is there anything I can do to get it to show up again? Also, I have a 5.1 surround sound system with a subwoofer, but songs I'm listening to are producing absolutely ZERO bass. It sounds as if I don't even have a subwoofer installed. In XP the bass was working great, but on Vista something must have changed because it sounds like the sub isn't even plugged in, although I don't know what it could be. I included a screenshot of my current speaker setup, so maybe you can figure out what the problem is from that, I'm not sure though. Sound/Audio etc is one of those things I hardly know much about at all, and just my luck it's one of the only things that goes wrong haha. EDIT: I noticed it's saying "URL Submitted By User" instead of posting the link to my screenshots, I don't know why :weird: |
The "URL submitted by user" is normal for new members. Moderators can see the URLs and other members know how to see them. It is meant as a anti-spam measure to prevent people from becoming member just to spam.
Anyways, maybe this... Quote:

Thanks for that. The Winamp skin thing worked which is great, but unfortunately the link you provided to help me with the Bass issues didn't help. The bass is still not there at all.
I should have mentioned that it's not JUST in Winamp that there's no Bass. There's no bass in games, Windows Media Player, Youtube or anything which is a real annoyance, because the added Bass is one of the best features of having a 5.1 surround sound system. I know it's probably something extremely simple, but I just can't think of what it might be. In the screenshot below you can see an option to test the sound coming from each individual speaker, and whenever I test the subwoofer sound, it seems to be working perfectly (I hear an extremely loud & LOW bassy sort of noise, which I guess is expected from the subwoofer), but ONLY in that test thing, nowhere else. This means that it's plugged in for sure, but I don't have any idea why it's not working when listening to music etc. Screenshot - http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/...dm_acd6fc3.jpg Hopefully you can help me out :) |
Sorry, I don't have that kind of a set up. Have you tried toggling the 'Switch Center / Subwoofer Output' and/or 'Enable Bass Management' options in your screenshot?
Also, make sure you have the latest sound drivers. Even though you have just installed Vista, that doesn't necessarily mean the sound drivers are up to date. As this is more of a general or system related issue, you might want try the Suggest A Fix forum for general computing help. Although they are not affiliated with or endorsed by Nullsoft/Winamp, they have been commonly suggested here at Winamp Forums. Good Luck |
I'll give that a go now, thanks
