Very Annoying Problems on Vista
So I updated my Winamp to the latest release and since then I've had a big problem when playing videos. When I open a video, the video will play fine, however, I cannot seek through the video, nor pause or stop it. The buttons light up as well as the seekbar, but when I go to click, nothing happens and the video keeps playing. I thought this was just a simple problem, so I just quit Winamp and tried again, it went away, at least for a bit. Then, it kept happening over and over again each time I tried to play a video (mostly XVids, but it occurs during mpgs too). So, I uninstalled it, reset my computer, deleted the program folder, and reinstalled Winamp. And, again, it still does the same thing. It occurs everytime I open a new video. Is this a known glitch on the latest release? It never happened at all on the previous release.
Also, there is a VERY annoying problem that has been happening ever since I purchased my new Vista laptop back in September. The program will act just fine for a while, but then all of a sudden, when I open Winamp, the program will not display the last file played like it should and when I go to play a new song or video, doesn't matter the media, Vista will pop up with an error saying Winamp has stopped working and close the program. I end up having to uninstall the program and then having to reinstall. I have done this at least 20 times since September and it is such an annoying problem. This problem is continous and has never been fixed no matter how many times I reinstall or when a new update is released. I have noticed one thing though, this problem usually only occurs when I open the lid on my laptop after it has been asleep. I have looked this up on Google and it seems many users have also had this problem but I have never found a solution. Is Winamp not truly usuable on Vista or something? I love Winamp and sometimes I reinstall Winamp and then 2 days later it pops up with the error again. I would really like to stop uninstalling and reinstalling all of the time. Thanks. |
No. Those are not known problems, and not reproducable either.
Please attach your List Of Plugins: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins Ideally, we could also do with seeing a HijackThis log http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#specs For the 2nd problem, maybe you've got some cleanup app installed (like WindowWasher, CCleaner or TracksEraser) which is deleting Winamp's settings files? For video-related issues, we also need even more info: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#video It sounds more like bad DirectShow splitter(s)/filter(s) to blame, to me.... |
Hi there. Sorry it took so long to reply. So I tried uninstalling the Winamp and installing 5.552 and these problems are still happening. Also, I noticed this isn't just for video. If I open a video, then open another video while the old one is still playing, Winamp will still play the file but I am no longer able to push any button or click on the menu, nothing will work. If I open a music file while the second video is still playing, the problem persists until I close Winamp and reopen it. I've included a zip that contains my plugins list and hijackthis log. If you need anything else from me, just let me know. :)

Sorry, here's the zip file, it wouldn't let me attach it to my last one.
