error 553
Okay, i have the latest version which i successfully d/l'd two weeks ago. Everything has been fine and I like it very much. I have had no problems till three days ago. If I load up a new CD or try to use the browser, I get this in my URL line:
http://search.winamp.com/search/afe?...amp-553--error What does this mean and how can I fix it? thanks |
What says error 553 and which URL line are you talking about? Please provide Winamp & system specs

I'm running windows XP on a lenovo N100.
My winamp is 5.551. Like I said in the beginning (last two weeks, browser and music lookup worked fine, but now I get error 553 at the end of my url, which is headed for spinner...or any other page i try and use. winamp.com/search/afe?query=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.spinner.com%2Fcategory%2Fmp3-of-the-day%2F&invocationType=en00-winamp-553--error This is my url without the front http://www. Odd :igor:
In the Winamp browser, right click on the home icon then select 'Restore default home' > then left click on the home icon -or- place http://www.spinner.com/category/mp3-of-the-day/ in the address/URL bar > click GO > right-click the home icon > select 'Set current Page as default home'. |
hmmm...no go on either. I went to the bookmarks and tried blog but in the end I always end up with error-553... bummer.

Okay JM, I have fixed it... ;)
I have been running a proxy software on both firefox and explorer, but I mainly use FF for surfing. I had the prox OFF and FF ran as usual so i didn't think Explorer would react differently. That's when it occurred to me that winamp would by default utilize micro. I deleted all prox settings (even though they were all turned off) and voila! So FF didn't mind, but ExP did. Many thanks for your help..... sweet..... Bob |
