Error when trying to tag files

Hi People,
I've just been tagging a load of track but for some reason it won't let me perminatly tag some songs. It comes up with an error saying

Error updating file: (Enter track location here)

I could really do with this working as I have over 11,000 tracks and when I back up obviously it wont keep the tags.

What Can I do?

full uninstall and reinstall
Information required when posting

Are the tracks read only or on read only media, like a CD/DVD?
