i need to get winamp to accept SMVs so i can get them on my MP4, any help?

What is an SMV and what do you mean by your "MP4"? SMV must be some sort of video format (link), and I guess "MP4" must refer to a portable which can play MPEG-4 video of some type.

Try renaming one as an mp4 file then see if your portable can play it. If it can't then you will need to look elsewhere for a video encoding solution. If it does work, you should try adding smv to in_dshow's list of extensions and then seeing if you can set smv as a compatible format on the advanced tab of your portable prefs.
