Media Libary - Shortcut key for Search?
 

As in the title, I was wondering if there were a keyboard shortcut or some more efficient way to get to the Media Library search dialog, as it's a small target which gets a little cumbersome with a laptop touchpad.

press F6 assuming you're using a recent winamp client version and it should then focus the search box.

Hrrm, I'm using 5.552 but F6 doesn't seem to do what you're saying. Does the window focus have to be a certain way? The key doesn't appear to affect anything at all, for example if I press it while in the Local Audio menu and then start typing, the highlighted song will follow what keys I'm pressing, but the search dialog won't be engaged. Which is close, but no cigar...

the media library needs to be the window which is initially focused for F6 to work so if it's not doing that then i'm wondering if something is running on your system which may be intercepting/forcing that action to be ignored (have tested it with 5.552 with all three skins in a number of the ml views and it worked every time).

i know if you use the up/down keys then the focus will revert back to the list but otherwise i'm a bit stumped.

I also want a keyboard shortcut to search the Media Library.

What you can do is press Alt+L, Alt+L, Tab, Tab, Tab, Tab.

That closes the media library, re-opens it (so that it has focus) and then the four tabs take you to the search box.

At the moment I'm doing a lot of retagging and sorting, so the search feature is being used a lot.

so the F6 action isn't working for you as well then??

anyone else getting this working or not??

F6 didn't work for me.

I think I saw something on some bit of the interweb saying that F6 only worked if Winamp was shown in the StartBar. I tried it both showing and hidden - no joy.

I'll install it on my work PC and before I change any settings, I'll try F6.

Just did the install - the only setting I selected was to use the Modern skin. But no, F6 didn't work...
