Some MP3s play with no sound
I have searched the forums for this problem and can't seem to find it. I have some tracks that play in WMP just fine but produce no sound in Winamp. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it either. I have various bitrates that produce no sound and various bitrates that produce sound. The tracks that produce sound are not encoded differently. The ones that produce sound produce good sound. I'm stumped.
-Standard Winamp pluginst plus the ShoutCAST DSP -Asus M3N78 PRO -Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (4 x 2048MB) & AMD Phenom 9500 Processor -No additional sound or video card -Windows XP SP3 -DirectX 9.0c -Winamp version 5.552 Full |
sample please.
sounds like they're corrupted. |
What did you want a sample of?
If the files were corrupted, wouldn't they also NOT play on WMP? (which I stated they did.) |
Rocker was asking for a link to a sample mp3 file so we can test it ourselves.
All I can think of offhand is that maybe ReplayGain has been calculated for these files, and the calculated Gain values are inaccurate/too low (eg. -40 dB or more) and therefore nothing is heard....? WMP doesn't support Replaygain therefore it won't be affected. |
By Jove! I think you've got it! Now to undo my Replay Gain to test.

DJ Egg...that was indeed the problem! Thank you so much, I would never have thought of that!
