AWESOME! a new release! Thanks for all involved. But what happened? Usually we will get word in the forums before the website is updated.

QOAL 2nd July 2009 15:24

Yay updates, thank you. :)

The whole 'Winamp Orgler plugin' sounds/looks far too like a last.fm clone, arses. :S

DJ Egg 2nd July 2009 15:29

@Juanus
I'm not rightly sure.
I only just found out myself, heh.
At a guess, I think it's probably due to the couple of security fixes that we had to move the release forward a bit...

You should subscribe to the winamp twitter. It was announced there last night! ;)

Chrissyx 2nd July 2009 16:49

Nice to see a new version. :)

Koopa 2nd July 2009 18:37

That release was a surprise for all translators. :/

The German language pack in this build isn't complete or doesn't contain most of the tweaks I planned for it. Also it does not contain the Y/Z key change

Hopefully we get a silent update, which should contain a complete German language pack with the key ramapping.

The feedback for my changes were good, but sadly I had no chance to verify all parts, though.

I'm not able to compile the Essentials Pack in the next 2 days too, so we have to live with 5.55 for now, sorry.

AOL:

Please give us a quick note even 2 days, before you release a newer version. That we have no chance to update and verify all stuff is just a shame. All translators have a real life and it's impossible to provide daily updates for us. All other software translators have a few weeks to do their job, so give us at least a few days.

sigh. another company wasting internet bandwidth on the useless twitter fad

Hanschke 2nd July 2009 19:30

dont like twitter. another stupid messanger system with less letters.

thx for the new version. maybe i can get the german lanuage file on a rapidshare or other mirror without a new setup?

can anyone please tell my how to remove the brower and the video tab in the bento skin?

i dont use it and dont know which plugin this do. or is there no option to remove it.

Koopa 2nd July 2009 21:52

I'll provide an external link to th German language pack on Saturday.

It's not possible to remove these tabs. I'd expect, that the video tab will be removed when no video plug-in is installed, like in Classic or Modern Skin, but Bento doesn't support this.

Cianca 2nd July 2009 22:14

so much develop time for.... what?

net-cruizer 2nd July 2009 22:36

Why is there no comments/info about Winamp Orgler, other than a tad of info on the Winamp blog mentioning how to set it up, slightly.
I've had it on, signed in, and been playin tunes all last night, and it says I haven't been listening to any music, when I go to the Winamp Charts section.
And there's no info on what kind of purpose/usefullness it serves.

Yeah, I agree. The Devs felt like they werent hearing enough complaints, so they released a new version.

How about showing a little appreciation for the hard work that STILL goes into this program.

just me?

dload not working for me in ie or firefox.
?

Zero2FiftyIn4 3rd July 2009 01:32

Thanks for the update.

Seems like the orgler is a secret though. Had to travel to the winamp blog to find any info. I'd think something big like that would have gotten more attention.

.:edited for horrible typo's:. :D

Saliman 3rd July 2009 01:42

Guys, you have to fix this annoying bug with Babylon 8...

"Add file to Playlist" dialog pops up on doubleclick in playlist

DJ Egg 3rd July 2009 02:57

Re: Orgler

Hmm, yeah, I was going to put something in the Notes section about it...
just haven't got round to doing it yet.

@stopasking
Fixed. Sorry.

@Saliman
What is Babylon 8 exactly?
Surely the Babylon 8 developers would need to fix a bug with Babylon 8?

@Cianca
Benski spent ~2months getting pmp_ipod to support iPhone/Touch
but then Apple released new firmware which totally broke it again :-(
Also, there's been quite a lot of optimizations/refactoring going on (ml_local/online/etc)

djpete 3rd July 2009 04:31

good ... fixed now.
maybe extremely busy server

synthetiq 3rd July 2009 15:08

well, honestly i found Orgler useless (sorry)
its kinda the History Plug but online based, so thanks for the work but i will not use it.
how about dropbox ? is it stoped ?
and ipod/iphone compatibility, as well as windows 7.
that would be much more apreciated

thanks!

I understand... but to me seems that winamp is a little dead in this year.... :(

Koopa 3rd July 2009 20:01

German Language Pack v5.56

- should contain all 5.56 specific things (note, that Winamp Orgler isn't translatable yet)
- remapped Y/Z key & updated related documentaion for this - this should make all of these people happy, who use their normal keyboard to control Winamp
- tweaked some more dialogs a little bit, especially Windows Media Decoder preferences dialog
- updated JTFE translation based on latest version
- Fixed some smaller glitches, based on user feedback
- removed obsolete Dashboard translation file

MrSinatra 4th July 2009 05:48

i am having problems with it...

its not removing dead files automatically like it used to on scan, and it doesn't always show whats being scanned like it used to in the options pane where you set how metadata is handled, esp at startup.

MrSinatra 4th July 2009 05:48

edit1: don't know why it double posted, can't get it to delete either, (using winamp browser btw)

edit2: ...and i should add my appreciation for continuing development by the devs!

lordsky 4th July 2009 06:01

FYI - Pro version for US
http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/..._pro_en-us.exe.

The current link to winamp556_pro_all does not work.

Hanschke 4th July 2009 08:18

@koopatropper

thx!

MrSinatra 4th July 2009 09:04

i want to add some more...

it doesn't seem to rescan automatically anymore on startup.

and it crashes when i go to winamp remote... i put login info in (not sure if it was correct or not) but it crashed and crashes everytime i try to go back to it.

i'm using vista sp2 if that matters to any of this.

can others reproduce / confirm what i am seeing?

Yes rescan also does not work for me, see :

I can reproduce it not automatically removing missing files on rescan.

I haven't been able to reproduce any of the other issues yet though...

ujay 4th July 2009 12:36

Don't have alot of time to check it all out ATM.

I've always had some ongoing problems with the Album Art view, as opposed to the plain text album view.

The only new change I've noticed is in the 'Remove missing files' dialogue, it used to say 'compacting' or 'cleaning up' or somesuch in the final phase. Maybe something related.

UJ

DJ Egg 4th July 2009 16:30

We seem to have found the problem...

For now, use "Remove missing files" from the Library button menu.

MrSinatra 4th July 2009 16:38

it used to say "checking for file" on the "status line" on the metadata page in prefs which is when (i believe) it removed dead/missing files, but now it doesn't. after that it said "compacting" which it still does.

egg, when you first start winamp, sometimes (most of the time) it doesn't seem to be scanning at all automatically when you first start it.

however, sometimes it does, but the "status line" doesn't show ANY activity. the only way i can tell anything is happening is the button there changes from "stop scan" to "rescan now"

i am having a hard time reproducing that myself, partly b/c (i'm guessing) i am on my laptop (w/small ML) for the holiday. things might be different if i:

1. had a bigger library
and
2. hadn't manually removed all the dead files via ML command, which i've already done here.

as to winamp remote...

try putting the wrong login info in it, and see if it crashes. i'm on vista 32bit home ultimate. i open winamp, click "Remote Media" on the left, and click "Audio" under it, and the pgm crashes, everytime.

TheUniqueTiger 4th July 2009 16:48

Thanks! Wow, I was expecting a new version, but this came as a surprise without a public beta. Keep it up dev team!!! :)

Thanx. You are awesome.

AND!!! Why can't integrate aol your work???

MrSinatra 4th July 2009 20:47

something else new thats wrong:

i get no "winamp charts" under online services. orgler says i am logged in, reporting my stats. and its already forgotten once the dir i told it to use for the "only use this dir" option for orgler.

in any case, shouldn't 'winamp charts' always be available under there?

DJ Egg 5th July 2009 01:57

http://blog.winamp.com/2009/07/02/wi...gler-tutorial/

Try going to Online Services (root view) -> Recently Added tab
Winamp Charts should be on page 1 there (if not, try page 2 etc)
Click it, then click the "Add to Winamp" button.

Re: Winamp Remote
Sorry, but I don't use it.
You'll need to post any problems with it in the Winamp Remote forum.

MrSinatra 5th July 2009 05:08

yes, i was able to add it. that wasn't clear, the video says you don't have to DL anything, but i just did, via your instruction. i think winamp should include that by default, very confusing.

still, nothing is tracking there for me. i've played tons of tracks, but its not showing anything for me, only worldwide, and those seem odd.

i assume if i specify a dir in orgler, it INCLUDES all sub dir's by default, yes?

as to winamp remote, i am talking about in the client, not the "orb" part, its the client, aka the winamp app itself that crashes. do i still need to report it there? (this issue has already been reported in the winamp forums besides me btw)

finally, what about automatically rescanning at startup being broken? can u reproduce that too?

TheUniqueTiger 5th July 2009 08:20

I like the new version, but there is some lag present in album art as follows.

I'm using Bento skin with notifier set to show never. Now when a new track starts playing the GUI freezes for about 1-2 seconds, but the track starts playing immediately. For files which contain embedded album art, I don't see any such lag. Its a problem with the files which pickup their album art from images in the same folder. Another observation is that if I set the notifier to show always along with album art, the GUI freezes even more and the alpha fade is choppier. Also tried the Winamp Modern skin and same problem, so its not skin specific, but I guess album art related. I hope the dev team fixes this in the next version.

OMIGAWD! There is now a way to see all this data I've been collecting. I wonder if there are plans for an "All time" period selection.
