Not sure about orgler, I listen to radio mostly.

Took me less than a fortnight to lose the password anyway :)

MrSinatra 6th July 2009 02:48

i still can't get anything of mine to show up. orgler says i'm logged in, and i view "my charts" but i get nothing.

J_Darnley 6th July 2009 11:54

Have you actually submitted any data yet? There was a problem with an early version of the plugin and non-alphanumeric characters in the password. This has been solved, but I needed to logout and login again to get it to send data.

my pword is alphanumeric, but i tried logging out and logging back in anyway, still no dice. frustrating.

J_Darnley 6th July 2009 20:08

Enable the QA log and then look at it.

Baldufa 7th July 2009 03:29

I cant install new skins

MrSinatra 7th July 2009 03:34

here is what i got:

[11:17:51 PM] Listening to Blondie - 02 - Hanging On The Telephone.mp3, will collect metadata in 65 seconds
[11:18:57 PM] Collected metadata for Blondie - 02 - Hanging On The Telephone.mp3
[11:20:09 PM] Added Blondie - 02 - Hanging On The Telephone.mp3 to the local usage database
[11:20:09 PM] Submitting C:\Users\MrSinatra\Desktop\New Folder\Blondie\Blondie Live\Blondie - 02 - Hanging On The Telephone.mp3 to MUD, artist=Blondie, album=Blondie Live, title=Hanging On The Telephone
[11:20:10 PM] MUD result: 200 Ok

not sure if thats good or not.

regardless, i still get nothing in winamp charts. frustrating.

MrSinatra 7th July 2009 04:08

tried logging out and in via the winamp charts site, no dice. did the same thing via the orgler plugin, and now i see three artists. thats at least a start. but these three are from a day or so ago.

how much lag is in this thing?

J_Darnley 7th July 2009 09:26

Yeah, I think that all is fine. The MUD (Music Usage Database) returns the HTTP status: 200 OK.

I have no idea how much lag there is. I first knew that the charts were operational when I read this thread. No one ever bothered to send a follow-up email when it did become operational. I will forgive them it it was supposed to be turned on with the release of 5.56

ujay 8th July 2009 15:49

'over the top' install.

Orgler installation/removal needs looking into ???

Not fully removed once installed ...

Error instaling new skins

For files which contain embedded album art, I don't see any such lag. Its a problem with the files which pickup their album art from images in the same folder. Another observation is that if I set the notifier to show always along with album art, the GUI freezes even more and the alpha fade is choppier. Also tried the Winamp Modern skin and same problem, so its not skin specific, but I guess album art related. I hope the dev team fixes this in the next version.
Hmm... did anyone notice this?

Remove Missing Files From ML

Winamp v5.56 is NOT removing missing files from the ML upon rescan.
I am having this issue both when re-naming or deleting MP3s in Windows Explorer.

Winamp Preferences > Media Library > Local Media > Watch Folders:

http://stashbox.org/566900/1/Watch%20Folders.JPG

Can anyone replicate this?

MrSinatra 12th July 2009 06:22

yes, i first reported that, and egg confirmed.

Ah yes, I see that now.
Don't know how I missed that when scanning the thread for a previous reporting of this issue. :igor:

For now, use "Remove missing files" from the Library button menu.

Sorry for the redundant report DJ Egg.

cleverramble 12th July 2009 21:24

still can't get m4a to play, but i saw in an older build discussion that a codec was needed. is it the same codec or do i need a different version? >>;

DJ Egg 13th July 2009 05:45

@cleverramble

Assuming MP4 Audio support wasn't unchecked in the installer options (and Nullsoft in_mp4.dll is present),
then it depends on what the audio format is inside the m4a container.

You should be able to right-click a playlist/ML item, select 'View File Info' and see what it says under Format Info.

Winamp's in_mp4 decoder natively supports lc-aac (Nero Digital) & he-aac (aacPlus) audio in m4a.

It also supports mp3 audio in m4a.

If it's ALAC (Apple Lossless) then there's an extra codec for that in the Essentials Pack
(see 'Extras' section of first post in thread).

If it's m4p (iTMS drm-protected crap) then you'll need to find the separate 3rd-party/unsupported m4p plugin.

Sukashii16 15th July 2009 15:51

After I updated winamp, I could not start the player. There was always be an appcrash. I uninstalled and tried to re-installed, now it says that it cannot write nscrt.dll. Will be going back to 5.55 as soon as I can find an installer.

Daedala 20th July 2009 14:35

I just noticed this today, I don't know if this is a bug or just a limitation with the albumart viewer.

Winamp can't display jpg-images which are set to CMYK-colour, it let's you select the file but does not show it.

I noticed this after getting albumart which was made on a mac. if you set and save the files for rgb colour winamp will show them.

papadoc 24th July 2009 03:17

Is it possible to sort songs in the Playlist Editor by bpm? http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e.../scratch-1.gif

TheUniqueTiger 24th July 2009 13:58

A new bug probably...

In the local media search results (lower pane), if you view file info for an ogg file (Alt+3) and then dismiss the dialog without doing any changes to the tags, the file still remains open and locked by Winamp. This is evident when I try to delete that particular file, and also with 'Unlocker'.

Gallant Crow 24th July 2009 21:29

Hello,

I've been using the Orgler for a couple of days now. It was working fine at first, but now it won't submit the songs correctly.

In the log file instead of

MUD result: 200 Ok

it says after each song

MUD result: 406 The HTTP Content-Type header must be one of text/xml or application/xml

Anything I can do about this?

synthetiq 29th July 2009 23:06

well, is there any new upgrade to resolve the bug with the ML scan not removing dead files in this latest version ?
as well iPod compatibility!

thankx!

MrSinatra 29th July 2009 23:10

the new version is the CAUSE of the bug, and hasn't been fixed yet.

synthetiq 31st July 2009 22:27

just a question:
i would to know the difference between choosing:
"Misc"
"Sort"
by title or by filename or by path and filename
for eg.: i have a folder with several TAGGED mp3's and i would like to have all of them in the playlist window ordered by track number, but if the filenames are for eg.: track names:

intro
music
i like you
love love love
...

and ALL FILES ARE TAGGED WITH THE TRACKNUMBER FIELD, 1,2,3 etc.

is this possible?
thankx

MrSinatra 31st July 2009 22:41

this is not the thread for that question, which i do not understand anyway. please start your own thread for that Q.

Seems like a logical question to me? This is a post about Winamp.
Well if this is the first time he's downloaded and installed Winamp anyways.
There's more of a chance that his question would get answered here than a new post.

MrSinatra 1st August 2009 07:18

brilliant, so why even have threads then? lets have all possible winamp discussion in this one thread, fantastic.

and great answer you had for him too btw!

this thread is to announce a new version of winamp and have people comment on that version, esp if it has bugs new to that version.

what it is not for, is questions about general use. just b/c he'll bother everyone in this thread with an email notification doesn't justify posting here.

I'm still awaiting any response to my previous post.

@ synthetiq,
Have your ATF starting with $num(%tracknumber%,2) and then sort by title.

synthetiq 1st August 2009 13:13

@TheUniqueTiger

sorry but, by the way what is "ATF" ?

thankx

Advanced Title Formatting.

Prefs -> Titles -> ATF pattern. Use something including artist and/or title and/or album, but essentially starting with $num(%tracknumber%,2) so it should be something like
code:
$num(%tracknumber%,2)[ - %artist%][ - %album%] - $if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))

This will list tracks in your playlist starting with padded tracknumbers, and later you sort the playlist by title. Actually sort by title here means sort by ATF. I myself use this feature to sort tracks in playlist by album names.

Hey.
Heh :P, I just looked around on the site a bit (www.winamp.com) and found a bug; when I hover the Winamp picture at the top of the homepage/forum, it says:

- in the forum -> "Winamp Media Player 5.541, The Free MP3 Player".
- on the homepage -> "Winamp Media Player 5.55, The Free MP3 Player".
- in the skins/plug-ins section it actually says 5.56 though..

So ie. it says the wrong version number. Tbh I think it shouldn't say the version number there at all cause then you dont need to change it with every release. Just remove the version number there OR make it change automatically according to the main page heading version number.. ;)

kzuse 4th August 2009 20:57

Oh yes, the title attributes of the div containers displaying the logo are wrong.

Maybe someone could fix it ;)

Stone Free 19th August 2009 12:06

Despite the "New and Improved" iPod synchronisation code, it still causes cross linked tracks. The tracks where all fine whilst I was using ml_ipod, but when I read "New and Improved" I decided to go back to the Winamp code, and on the very first sync Its cross linked some tracks.

Spinal Tap - Break Like the Wind has artwork showing up with the correct cover but when I listened to the track it was the Weezer Red Album.

I suspect winamp is duplicating the synch filenames and therefore overwriting old tracks (N.B have over 10000 tracks, also happened when it was 7000). If you use "Get Info" on the track in iTunes then the titles showing in the playlist are transformed to the underlying real track, and the info is a mix of the original track and the cross linked track.

Its really starting to get annoying. I much prefer Winamps transfer list (so I can remove tracks not yet synched if I'm running out of time) and its showing of the artwork.

One more question, I could have sworn that on previous versions of winamp any artwork setup in Winamp would transfer over to the iPod. Now the Album Art retriever contains text informing me that the art won't be synched to portables. If this is the case - how do you get artwork onto the iPod?

DARcode 20th August 2009 18:17

Howdy, tried searching the forum as well as the Internet for this issue but found zip, so here it is: upgraded from 5.552 to 5.56 on two WinXP Pro SP3 machines (my desktop and my notebook, language ENU for both) and now the Playlist Sidecar v1.1 won't show anymore even after reinstalling the latest Essentials, what Am I doing wrong please? Thanks.

Koopa 20th August 2009 18:52

You're doing nothing wrong, doesn't work on my 5.57 beta install as well. I'm not using it, so the last compatibility check I did was for 5.55.

You have to ask martin.deimos for an update, he was the creator of the sidecar.

I'm not sure, if we'll ship it in EP 5.57, since I'm a lil' bit tired of it. It produced a lot of installer work in the past and it's always possible, that it doesn't work with upcomming releases.

[Edit] Issue fixed as confirmed by JonnyMac. But we have to find a better patching system for the .xml files in futre, though.

This is the reason, why I always preferred the Winamp 2.x plugin system instead of the Winamp3 WAC components.

The color editor for example, needs an update for nearly any newer Winamp release as well.

Koopa 20th August 2009 19:44

DARcode:

I think I've found the issue. Please tell me, if this fixes the problem for you:

http://stashbox.org/605675/Winamp_Essentials_v5.56.exe

JonnyMac 20th August 2009 20:53

Issue was reproduced and now fixed with Essentials 5.56. :D

Thanks

@DARcode
Any luck?
