Koopa 20th August 2009 21:14

Thanks for confirming, JM.

But that 5.56 release was unexpected. It already has some of the planned 5.57 stuff, but I won't upload it to Winamp.com.

Sorry, that there was no 5.56 Essentials Pack, but the Winamp release was unexpected and we really had no real changes, which made it worth to release a newer version. I also had some trouble with my HDD in the last month.,

Never mind, all of you can expect a 5.57 EP (hopefully with Sidecar). :)

[Edit]@JM I was already forced to replace my HDDs. :( Lost a 250Gb and an 160Gb internal drive. Before I found a new HD, which fits with my board and my needs, most of my data were on DVDs, USB-Sticks and a too small internal drive in the last few months. :)

I hope that is not a bad sign. The last time I had some troubles with the HDD, it had to be replaced. Good luck.

DARcode 21st August 2009 18:50

Yeah  ! Sidecar's back :) !

Many thanks for the super quick fix (the agreement in the install still says WINAMP Essentials Pack v5.55, not an issue really)!

Now never hint @ discontinuing my fav Playlist Enhancement/Winamp Essential   :p again!

Er, I thought that was already the WavPack decoder. ;)

Yeah, it still says 5.55, because there is no offical 5.56 EP. This was just an unexpected quick fix, like I said above. :)

Correct, but that's a Media File Support Essential :p .

Is it normal Essentials 5.56 have no Nullsoft FLAC Encoder v1.0 and Find File on Disk Plugin Translation please?

Koopa 21st August 2009 22:45

Well, I wanted to provide a quick update and so I used my current 5.57 script for it. My old 5.55 script is still somewhere on an USB Stick, because of my HDD glitches.

So the fixed version already has some parts of the next EP, this is the reason, why I don't upload it to Winamp.com.

So it already contains Find File on Disk v2.0, which is now fully localizable via an own .ini file.

The EP installer translation was just a workaround to make the main functionality localizable. But my code could just translate menu item and hotkey via manipulating winamp.ini, whether the new FFoD is fully localizable.

Flake will be removed in the next release. We discussed about it and I made the final decision, that end users really should use the approved and tested libflac encoder.

Flake is still in an early stage and should be used by advanced users only. Also I wouldn't call it 'essential', since Winamp directly ships a working flac encoder.

A working WavPack encoder would be more interesting for the EP, hehe.

On the other hand isn't the EP meant as ultimate encoder/decoder pack for Winamp.

The aim is it to provide some great functionalities, which Winamp lacks.

DARcode 22nd August 2009 11:38

Thanks for the clarifications, I've appreciated the pronto fix for the Sidecar and realize EP 5.56 isn't an official release, was merely wondering if anything was left out due to the rush or on purpose, also agree on Flake's removal and the absolute ;-] need for a WV encoder.

very nice! thank you

What is this new Winamp Dropbox (alpha) I don't want to install it without knowing what it is.

Yes I tried searching, the search is broken, just returns a blank page.

J_Darnley 2nd September 2009 10:25

New?!

And the search works for me.

MrSinatra 2nd September 2009 10:32

Paul,

its already in 5.56 just do "ctrl-shift-D"

its a playlist thing. i don't actually use it so i'm not sure what its utility is.

MasterGoa 9th September 2009 03:58

But with *some* FLVs...

Hey guys!

Cameacross an FLV that GPF's Winamp but not Quicktime alternative
or CCCP player.

http://www.flashload.net/en/?url=htt...mt%3D18&direct

First and second HQ links crash my winamd.

Hope this can help shed light on a problem for 5.57!

Serpher 24th September 2009 19:53

Bug found:
Winamp crashed because of ntdll.dll. Funny thing is that the trigger was Left Alt + 3 combination on not played mp3 file on playlist. That was the first time it happend.

Koogle 1st October 2009 17:36

when is that shitty playlist going to get replaced with something better like AIMP2 better more UPTO DATE integration! proper tabbed playlists, options, customizations etc etc etc etc.

Winamps playlist is crap

Ctrl-Shift-D

Koogle 2nd October 2009 19:29

oh wow.. whats this wonderful pile of beta shit that I didn't already know about..

hmm yes this really compares to far better, more functional and better looking AIMP2 playlist styling (and yes I know about the details view) I'm getting at the group styling drop box lacks

What the drop box currently shows in its design direction looks like fail to me.

Ctrl-Shift-DELETE

Koopa 2nd October 2009 20:23

Finally stop whining, we have a long thread related to the playlist crap, you're requesting for.

Do you think, posting the request again in this thread will change things quickly?

I think your file organization is crappy, instead of Winamp, use the library for managing stuff and the playlist as this, what it's meant to be, a simple playlist.

Some people like the current playlist, even if it's hard for you to accept. If you cannot live with it, just switch to Aimp or whatever.

Koogle 3rd October 2009 09:41

current playlist is noob shit

obviously you like that basic crap along with the rest of teh noobs.. I don't.

"If you cannot live with it, just switch to Aimp or whatever."

lol yeah classic noob line Koopa

DrO 3rd October 2009 13:53

Koogle: stop trolling - this is your final warning.

There's a new CT codec.

Will it be implemented in Winamp any time soon?

No :)

Hopefully 2009....

Hanschke 16th October 2009 20:28

new homepage new release i think ;)

Omega X 19th October 2009 10:06

I would agree. But not because of the new design. But because Windows 7 is close. A lot of software firms are planning updates and releases around the launch of Seven.

That and the fact that its been very quiet.

Stone Free 21st October 2009 17:07

In any new release - please can they fix the iPod synchronisation I fed up with its cross-linking of tracks and the alternatives lack of the Winamps transfer window!

feature or bug

Hi!

I have a irritating problem with new winamp.
I'm a WinAmp fan a long time ago, but this release "feature"
very bad for me.
Here is the problem description:
if I change track in the playlist (playlist window is active) and then I click another aplication (like Firefox) winamp will inactive and it goes to taskbar (ok, it is a normal windows operation)
But when I click winamp on taskbar (I want activate it) sometimes ONLY playlist (last active window) appears and winamp's main window and equalizer don't appear.
I don't understand when and why it happens (it seems it works randomly)

I would like to ask if this is a feature then it can be switched off in the next release.

Thanks

osmosis 27th November 2009 03:38

nhawk: I used to have the same problem with certain Winamp skins but I haven't experienced them for some time. I think what it boils down to is a studio.xnf problem. Delete that file (or clean it up if you know what you're doing in there) and I believe it will resolve your problem.

Boy it's quiet in here otherwise... even I'm starting to get antsy after 5 months and the current radio silence. Here's hoping it ends soon.

Daedala 27th November 2009 21:26

Did anyone else notice that it says 5.57 on the download button, by winamp media player?

Juanus 27th November 2009 23:34

Good Catch! I wonder how long its been that way?

Koopa 27th November 2009 23:35

Probably just a mistake or a typo. But it's a bit funny, hehe.

Juanus 28th November 2009 00:20

Now its back to 5.56.... someone must have heard the rumblings.
I wish I had gotten a screenshot.

JonnyMac 28th November 2009 01:22

At the time of this reply, the button still says 5.57. At least at my end.

Koopa 28th November 2009 14:08

Album art can appear like this, it depends on your query. ;)
