how to export playlists from winamp to itunes with correct song names?
ok, so I just tried to export a playlist from winamp (m3u) then imported it into itunes, the playlist had about 300 songs, and I was importing it to sync it onto my ipod (I know I can use winamp to manage my ipod)
after importing the playlist the song names in itunes were as they are in winamp playlist, which I hate, you know how it shows the band name then the song name, even though there are already separate columns for both of these tags. and it also changed the song names in my actual itunes music library, and I don't want to rename all of these songs, so: is there a way to import a winamp playlist into itunes keeping the band names and song names in their proper columns? this is my major problem with winamp, the playlists should be just the same as the smart view, IMO. either that or I should be able to export the smart views as m3u playlists. EDIT: i'm using winamp v5.56 |
One thing you can do is remove all the #EXTINF lines (sort using DOS sort in a DOS window works well for this, then delete them) They'll still appear as artist - title, but that seems to be a problem with iTunes. Clicking on one of the titles twice (not double click) will cause each one to revert to just the title.

thanks for the answer, and I will keep it in mind for next time, but I decided that I would restart my library and import all of my music, I had to make all of my playlists again, but it's done now.
