Question about computers on same router

I have my station up and streaming. I want to check out my station myself and listen to the music to see if everything sounds good. But im not able to listen to it. I think I remember reading that I couldn't listen to my station from another computer in the house if they both were using the same wireless router but the only way that I could listen to it in the same house as the computer with my station on is to have a certain kind of wireless router that will enable me to listen to it. Does anyone know what type of router I would need on order to do this?

Most routers do not allow local loopback but you dont need to change any hardware,

All you need to do is use the ip and port of the machine with the server on.

eg if the server is on http://192.168.1.2:8000/listen.pls then this is what you type in from any other machine in the house to see the server,

I tried that and I still couldnt get it to read it. It brought up an error about the network. Are there any other options? I was able to listen to my station from another computer in the house when we had the router from tmobile that we used for a house phone but we let that one go.

A firewall maybe stopping the different machines accessing the server.

can you ping the machine that the server is sitting on?
