"The Collection"
why has apple or winamp not invented the idea of "the collection" yet? have we not evolved? why only 1 media library? object oriented programming makes multiple libraries an easy programming task. do you like your heavy metal album cover from kreator sitting next to your kids katy perry album cover? i just do not get it???? i do not use playlists... without album art they are visually boring. i use the audio folder. please please let me make folders here so i can have separate collections. do not tell me to sort my music according to genre because i have 10 different genres for heavy metal, thrash, hard core... and i cannot filter out my kids katy perry. let us evolve to "Collections".
thank you for reading. |
Maybe I am not understanding what you are trying to do, but wouldn't the smart views accomplish what you are trying to do? Assuming that you and your kids music collections are in different directories, why not make a smart view thats pointing to your directory and a smart view thats pointing to your kids? Then they are seperated

smart view - directories - how?
I'm a computer engineer with a graduate degree who writes software and I could not figure out how to make a smart view that points to different directories. I spent about 12 minutes. Smart view is a highly sophisticated filter. I'm old skool. what happened to creating a new folder and simply dragging your music into it? why limit us to only 1 library?

luckily you don't have to have a degree to do this.
I have attached a screen shot that will do what you want. Just change the filename path to the path of your different music folders. And at the bottom, name it something. |
bong!
a ha! they taught me nothing in college!
if winamp made separate media folders that we could just drag and drop our mp3 files into, then you could have saved 5min of your life explaining this to me. hehe. Create New folder -> name it -> drag & drop mp3 files... so easy a retarded retart high on 40years of bong resin can do it. |
