Can't get Enqueue & Play working in 5.572.

I don't know when it happened, but at some point I lost my ability to get Enqueue & Play as the default action when I double-click. It used to work just fine. I figure the Programmer Monkeys must have broken it somehow. It's not the first time they've done this. Has anyone else been able to get this working?

I'm running Windows XP. Enqueue & Play works if you right-click and pick it from the context menu, but I want to be able to double-click like I used to.

Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> File Types -> Shell Options:

Make sure of the following:

"Add 'Enqueue & Play' to Wnamp's associated file types" is checkmarked

"Set 'Enqueue & Play' as the default action" is checkmarked

"Enqueue & Play in Winamp" is selected in the "File Context Menu" options at the bottom

is a good thing i don't take offense to being called a monkey...

if the options suggested by DJ Egg don't work then please post back and i'll add it to me re-verification list as my implementation for such things is possibly out of synch with the main client version.

Have done exactly this. Have changed things around. Have played with the "Enqueue files on double click" option. No combination of settings works. I just can't get it to work right.

I also noticed mine suddenly breaking recently and finding the options not making any difference. Turns out I had to right click a music file and choose "Open With..." then pick Winamp. It then started showing up as the emboldened default action like it used to.

The strange thing is that I've had to do this a number of times. Not sure if it's cause my PC ends up crashing before I eventually restart and save such changes, or what.

edit: wow. I did this not 10 minutes ago and now it's already been reset to 'Scan with Spybot-Search&Destroy' as the default action again. The windows media player entries are still there (play and add to playlist), but none of the Winamp ones are. This makes me think it's a Winamp issue and not something external

The correct filetypes are selected in the options... so I dunno.

@MrKlorox

What's your Windows OS?
Also XP?
If it's Vista or Win7, then the only way those Shell Options work is if you run Winamp in admin mode, eg.

Right-click Winamp icon -> Run as administrator
Prefs -> File Types -> Shell Options
Set it up to taste
Change to a different Prefs page
Close Prefs

The settings should then stick.

When running Winamp again (in normal mode)
just don't go to that Prefs -> Shell Options page.

However, on WinXP, it should just work.
It does for me anyway, heh.

Oh, I'm in Vista 32-bit. I have UAC disabled so it should default to Administrator mode, right?

I've done as you suggested and will post here if it resets again.

MrKlorox: once run under an admin then it should hold unless another app messes around with things and takes back regsitration of the filetypes. the whole implementation of that feature is being re-worked under the hood and hopefully should be fixed to be UAC compatible (including when it is disabled) in time for the next client release.

CaptainSiberia: it seems like there is some quirks with my code implementing the double-click handler which has been broken by recent client updates so i'll need to investigate and fix accordingly (is a sparodic issue from a quick test i've just done so will contact you once i've a test build to try out).
