I installed WINE and downloaded the winamp installer but that doesn't seem to want to run. Wine tries running it but nothing ever happens.

I finally got Winamp to install under Wine but its having a problem reading the media library. I can't see anything but the library tab. I suspect its an access issue but I can't find the library file to check it nor can I find a setting in Winamp that shows the location of the library file.

If you absolutely want to have winamp within your linux, you can install virtual box, then install windows os inside virtual box. After that you will have a complete windows running on your linux, ready to have winamp installed on it.

It works, but really a lot of work involved for the sake of having winamp running.

I personally resort to Audacious and or Xmms, two linux winamp clones that have the main winamp features built in.

Nice going, you resurrected a year old thread for that.....

Virtualbox can work, but I would suggest trying Audacious out, it a fork of Beep, which was a fork of XMMS, which is the original Winamp clone for Linux.
