Play count outside of Media Library?

I have a feeling the answer is going to be "no", but I'm going to ask anyway...

I've been using Winamp for several years, but I don't use the Media Library (I know, I should). I add folders to my Playlist Editor and play from there. Anyway, I just signed up for lastfm and it is unable to import my play counts - I guess that's because I'm not using the Media Library. I don't suppose there is any way around this? Like, maybe the play counts are tracked in a file somewhere, but only displayed in the Media Library?

Thanks in advance! :)

the playcount is tracked by the history plug-in which works as a media library plug-in and saves it's data to recent.dat/recent.idx in the settings folder (usually in %appdata%\winamp).

you've said you don't use the library though if the history plug-in (ml_history.dll) has been installed then there's a chance it has been installed and if it is then i may have a solution though i'm not 100% sure what file format last.fm needs to import the data.

Thanks for your reply! :D
Hrrrrm. ml_history.dll does exist in my winamp/plugins folder, if that signifies anything.

After thinking about it for a while... if the recent.idx file had been keeping track of what I play, then when I add songs in to the (previously empty) media library, shouldn't the playcounts carry through? I tried it out and everything comes up as 0 playcount. So I guess that means it hasn't been tracking it, right?

Well, it wasn't a crucial issue, anyway. User error, right? :p I really do need to learn my way around the Media Library...

without the plug-in present then there will have been no tracking of anything played in the playlist editor which matches with the zero play counts you're seeing.

how the history plug-in works is to basically track items by their filepath so if you've then changed them and they were in there then they'd appear as new zero count items when viewed.

at the moment i've an internally developed plug-in which allows for exporting the history but i'm toying with the idea of allowing it to import a history such as from another player so it's easier to migrate such things which may be of help to users like yourself in the future (just a matter of finding the time to work on it, heh).
