Clean Install on Win 7 (x64)
Having the same problem as Trocks797. I enter the initial setup, select the skin, select the Associations, and then it crashes. Can't even access the program. |
My crashes were caused by this plugin http://www.winamp.com/plugin/lyrics-plugin/148097
Sorry, I know I should have made a clean install first. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Tut tut! :p ;) |

Strange.... The same applies as in my reply to Trocks797 The crash is in ml_online.dll but the error log shows that ombrowser.w5s is missing.... The Online Media Browser component is required for Online Services. Not sure why it's missing on your systems... if indeed it is....? Please attach your List of Plugins, as requested in the "Reporting bugs" section of the first post. Can you get Winamp to open if you edit %appdata%\winamp\winamp.ini as follows? [WinampReg] IsFirstInst=0 NeedReg=0 |
How to connect through wifi? When i try to configure the nullsoft wifi device plugin (pmp_wifi.dll, under Portables) it doesn't respond at all. Any other setting that needs to be set? Logs to check?
Using a desire with froyo and pc with vista. The nullsoft android device plugin does respond and i can set it to M: (wich is my android ofcourse). Connect drive then nothing happens. I connected the M-drive through the option of watching another folder. After that it recognizes the m-drive being an android phone. So it works but with a workaround. Plenty of restarts allready. |
FWIW, I had the same issue (crash in ml_online.dll on startup) and was able to resolve it by changing
[WinampReg] NeedReg=1 to [WinampReg] NeedReg=0 |

The file definitely exists (see attached screenshot). Also attached the plugin list.
Just changed the NeedReg from 1 to 0, I can now open Winamp. It is crashing every time I go to open the Preferences now though. Edit: Now preferences are working on reboot of Winamp. |
NeedReg is allready set to 0 (by default).
any other setting i should activate before wifi works? I have never configured WinAmp much even though i've been using it for many years now. Normally i just use the explorer and drag in some files and the thing starts playing. Can't find anything on the forum about it. |
@AlphaTrooper
Hmm, interesting.... The plugin list says "Loading test failed" next to both: ombrowser.w5s ml_orb.dll Do you use Winamp Remote? Try moving ml_orb.dll out of the %ProgramFiles%Winamp\Plugins folder. Maybe it's some old version of ml_orb that you've got there? Older versions of ml_orb.dll required/used nscrt.dll (which we no longer ship). I was advised not to make the Winamp Installer cleanup/delete ml_orb.dll because the Winamp Remote Uninstaller does it instead. Maybe I was given bad advice though....? ;) _____________________________________________________________________ Important People are still posting issues with Winamp For Android here. Sorry, but it's not my area, so I can't personally respond to those. This thread is for Winamp 5.59 Beta issues only. As noted in the first post of the thread, there's a separate thread for Android and there's now even a new Winamp for Android forum (also linked to in 1st post) :-) |

I have checked my file for ombrowser.w5s and it is there.. providing this is the same problem as Trocks797 |
Important: Please post any issues, related to Winamp Android in the Winamp Android features/bugs discussion thread only!!

Had the same problem with the install crashing, running win 7 pro x64. I was installing the remote and the program and this was the problem. I did a clean install with just the winamp player and none of the extras, worked like a charm...
|
Is it possible that something similar to the Android features are going to be expanded to other platforms? Specifically WebOS?

Methinks the Winamp Remote installer is also trying to install ombrowser.w5s but it's an older version than the one included with Winamp 5.59 Time to update the Winamp Remote installer.... oops.... You can tell just how many devs/qa/beta-team people use Winamp Remote, lol ;) |
Great! Installing now
Try it now. thanks.:D |
Okay....
For all of you who are checkmarking Winamp Remote in the installer and are getting a crash in ml_online.dll during setup or on Winamp load.... Please reinstall 5.59 Beta, but this time, uncheck "Winamp Remote" on the "Get the most out of Winamp" page, then see if Winamp installs and runs okay. You can then separately install Winamp Remote, if you wish, from here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1994752/winampremote.exe This installer includes the same omBrowser.w5s as Winamp 5.59 so there shouldn't be any problems with it now.... Let me know how it goes. |

Please fix "playlist generator failed to initialize" bug which exists for almost 2 or 3 years.

Syncing to my Android phone via USB is working great except for most (not all) of the album art is not being synced. The album art is attached to each .mp3 file and not a library or folder. The Winamp app or any other music player on the phone is verifying that no artwork is being pushed. If I sync with Mediamonkey the artwork shows up in the Winamp app and other music players. Wifi sync is pretty much trash on my phone. It wants to send my entire library instead of a playlist. If I choose autofill, it says there are zero songs to transfer.

Prefs -> Plugins -> Media Library -> Playlist Generator -> config: Click "Reset Database" (Or, with Winamp closed, manually delete the 3 cddbplm.pdb/idx/gcf files in the %AppData%\Winamp\Plugins\Gracenote folder). Then click the Scan button Let the Scan complete fully. |

Scroll down and uncheck "Update all songs from my Local Media Library" under "Library Sync". Sorry. No idea about the other issues. Wrong thread (see first post for details on where to post Winamp for Android issues). |

All good! thanks DJ and jlbusch. the remote works OK as well. |
Just wanted to let you know about a bug I'm experiencing. In order for my Android device to show up in Devices [on my desktop], I must go into the settings [on my phone] and uncheck "Enable wireless sync" and then re-enable it.
Device is currently in "attached" stage. Even a "Start Discovery" doesn't find the phone unless I uncheck/check the "Enable wireless sync" setting. Computer: hp dv6000 laptop, Windows 7 Ultimate, Winamp 5.59 Beta Phone: EVO 4G, Android 2.2 Froyo, Winamp 0.9.1 Beta Hope this helps! |

Issue has now been fixed serverside ie. We've replaced the old Remote installer with the correct one from build 3033 :-) |
I am having trouble with the Devices managing my Ipod.
I have an Ipod Classic 160 GB Model: MB150LL When I connect it to Winamp I can see all of the music within winamp and I can transfer music. However, when I disconnect using winamp. The Ipod says that there is no music on the device even though the disk space is used up. If I connect it back to winamp, all of the music shows up inside of Winamp. So it is there, but when I disconnect it again, I cannot see the music on my Ipod. |
Another bug I found: when my EVO 4G is in disk mode, the left navigation tree in the media library does not work. However, when I disable, it will work just fine. Restarting Winamp on the computer after mounting/unmounting will yield the results.
Update: it seems that the "manage device" dialog might have been in the background. I tried to replicate the issue and I got the manage device dialog this time |
Where is the embedded album art feature that has been requested for more than 3 years.....?
Really? Winamp can add all kinds of crap for all mobile devices but can't add a feature to embed a piece of album art into a file? Not like this is an outlandish request or even difficult to do since most other apps like MP3TAG can........come on.....http://www.kittmaster.com/imagedump/thumbsdown.gif |
Quote:
programs like that are free and much better than any media player is for amending & tagging, else you'll get Winamp overbloated. |

Thanks for the laugh.....really. Winamp became bloated after version 2.61, but really who's keeping track.......... Let's see, it can download artwork, it can use Gracenote for auto tag Please tell me where the problem is about having it embed it the image tag......??...... Next. Come on, let's hear from some of the developers who, if at all, are reading this thread what the problem is........this isn't hard to do, you already have all the functions in place........ Image download, tag data source, file write.......anyone? Oh and BTW, I do use MP3TAG as my primary but it isn't automated......using autotag here with the simple art embed function is probably a code line away...... Any response from the devs??????????? :( |
@kittmaster
It's already in the official wishlist Bear in mind that a couple of years or so ago, Winamp didn't even natively support any form of albumart. At least it can now display it, let you edit it, can read embedded art and also let you delete it.... The core dev team is only small... but we'll get there in the end.... :-) |
DJ
I get it, I really do, and I've been using winamp.............forever. It gets annoying to hear "when it's done" from all the not in the know people. Is there a road map anywhere that talks about milestones for some of these features? I hope it is soon, I use the program religiously......it would make life so much easier...... |

Still can't get my winamp working. Needreg thing was already at 0, I didn't install remote thing and tried installing the previous version and this one numerous times to no avail. The older version loads fine then crashes, whereas this one brings up the windows and crashes before loading plugins or library.
Anyways should I just do a fresh install or? I don't want to lose my ratings and library management but not sure what else to do. |

Probably caused by one of your 3rd-party input plugins: in_mad.dll, in_ape.dll, in_mpc.dll, in_wv.dlll in_mad is no longer needed. It's old, provides no extra benefits and has less features than Nullsoft in_mp3. You're using old versions of in_mpc & in_wv (latest Wavpack plugin is included in the Essential Pack) Not sure whether your version of in_ape is the latest available Monkeys Audio plugin.... |
I took out in_mad (backed up), got the latest in_mpc and installed that essential pack but now winamp doesn't even bring anything up, just instant crash.

plus anything else that you might require (eg. ALAC, AC3 & FLV/H263 Decoders are quite useful, as are Find File on Disk, ML EnqPlay & Skin Manager, etc) The instructions I probably should've given were to just remove all 4 3rd-party plugins and then try to run Winamp. If it worked, then restore the plugins one at a time until you find the guilty party. You should've also attached a list of plugins (I guess you'd need to use the Standalone version of the Nunz plugin) Or you can try a clean install (quick & dirty method). Use the Winamp Backup Tool first to backup everything (playlists, mldb, etc). |
Oh sorry for the confusion. I tried doing the plugins thing but removing all 4 didn't make a difference. I think I'll just do a clean install and hopefully I can get it up and running okay. :)

Why save sync'd files to root instead of /music?
