Jump to file (not "jumping")
Hello there,
I've been previously using an old version of winamp and the jump to file option would really "jump" to the playlist entry, leaving it highlighted in the playlist. When i try to do this with the latest winamp the song does start but the playlist isn't updated so to say. Jumping to the file doesn't highlight it and i have to scroll through the playlist in order to find it (which of course is nearly impossible since i have a rather large playlist). In addition, hitting next or previous doesn't skip to the file in the playlist. I've tried hitting the spacebar to bring up the song (show entry in playlist option) but that doesn't work either. i have downloaded the extended jump to file plugin, no dice. The option to prevent winamp from scrolling to the current file into view is also disabled. Can anyone help me out here? Kind regards, |
can you start by attaching a plug-ins list first -> http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins as i'm not able to reproduce such an issue on any of my test machines (and at the moment i can't think of anything which should prevent something like that happening).
also you're saying the 'jump' action does not work, does the 'queue' action work? -daz |

I have attached the plugins list. Also, the queue option does work. But again, the songs aren't highlighted or skipped to in the playlist. So, say i queue songs 837, 914 and 1013 and the playlist window shows songs 1-50, it won't skip to 837 when i jump to that file and i have to scroll manually, this was of course not the case in older winamps where it would instantly skip to the song playing.

nothing is jumping out from the plug-ins list especially if the queue button is working as that all goes through the same handler in the code. have you tried with a classic skin?
also do you have anything else running on your system which may interact with Winamp like anything which would take Winamp's playing status? am clutching at straws as nothing in the source code is making sense to cause such an issue. maybe you could pm me a copy of your winamp.ini and i'll see if i can reproduce it with your settings. -daz |

Okay, now here's an interesting thing. Once you activate the classic skin, and click on the "pl" button, a seperate playlist will show up not connected to the entire media library dialogue; lo and behold, the jump to file function works like before! Now i've figured out there was a seperate playlist for the Bento skin as well and it works too.
Clutching straws apparently worked :D Feeling rather silly for not trying this before. It's a bit too bad that it doesn't work inside the media library "playlist" however. And in the spirit of a picture being worth a thousand words: see the attachment. Thanks a lot for the quick help in any case :) Kind regards, |
ah, media library playlists. yeah they're just a repository of playlists whereas the JTF window works on the contents of the true playlist editor window. well at least it's resolved so that's the main thing :)
